Journal’s Luke Edwards Is Spot On

We don’t do this very often, but we just have to quote the first two paragraphs of Luke Edward’s match report on the Newcastle game against Fulham.

Sam Allardyce beauty in the ugliness and pride in the clean sheet

We think he hits the nail right on the head, and not without a little humor.

Here is Luke’s Newcastle Journal report on Saturday’s game and here are the first two paragraphs of his report.

“It was scrappy, disjointed, tight and tedious. It was, for anyone who stumbled across it as a neutral, an ugly and unattractive spectacle with all the appeal of EastEnders’ Pat Butcher wearing nothing more than fishnet stockings.”

“But for Sam Allardyce and Newcastle United there was beauty in the ugliness, pride in the clean sheet and, above all else, immense satisfaction at a result which gave the Magpies back-to-back home and away wins for the first time this season.”

That’s good work Luke – we had to have a laugh at that this morning , but you are so right, unfortunately.    🙁

Perhaps our players should take the field wearing fishnet stockings; it could be very appropriate. There could be beauty in the ugliness!

A win is a win is a win etc…knackers to beauty/ugly at this point. Fulham tried to stiffle us, their crowd was shit scared & silent, we kept goin’ to the bitter end (92 min & in their box). They didn’t have a decent chance (on target).
Our defense kept a clean sheet, we’re still only 5 points behind Liverpool in 5th. Oh yea, & WE WON…Bollox to what the pundits say!..
    …Howay the Lads!..

I agree Punk Skunk their crowd were terrible and contributed to a dreadful game (just as well the travelling toon faithful were there to make a noise)

Watched Arse nal v Chelsea and was like a champions league game

Watched Fulhm v Toon and was like a championship game in comparison.

Rozy in fishnets and suspenders with a heavy application of light blue eyeshadow would stop anything from coming through. In fact, he could probably just herd to opposition up the pitch. The TV ratings might suffer though. 😉

What do you expect, Obafan2? Both of those teams are in the Champions league. Yeah, we had a shite game, but like a good side, we were able to nick 3 points even though we didn’t play very well. While I agree it wasn’t the kinda game I’d watch twice, it’s encouraging because it’s the sort of game we’d have drawn or lost last year (or even a month and half ago).
