Joey Barton – team bonding trip to Edinburgh has helped team spirit

And of course Joey is more than happy to have scored his first goal for the club in the last minute at Craven Cottage on Saturday when he put the penalty away with seemingly no nerves whatsoever.

Barton says a team bonding trip to Edinburgh has helped put Newcastle’s season back on track, which it is right now and if we can (and should) win our next two games (Derby home, Wigan away) things will be looking a lot better.

Barton told The Daily Mirror today.

“We’ve great team spirit. We all went to Edinburgh last week and everyone got to know each other a little better,” “There’s a real togetherness in the squad and that’s showed in recent games.”

“This team is starting to believe and with the ability we’ve got we can keep marching up the table.”

“It was great to get my first goal, but I’m more happy for the team as it got us the win. That’s two late wins in a row and you have to praise the lads for not giving in and keeping on fighting until the end.”

Joey is slowly coming into his best form but he is yet to show us the form he constantly displayed at Manchester City. The next few games would be a good time for Joey to show us that form and also get us a few more goals.

Totally agree joey is looking a lot livlier last ferw games lets not get carried away we didnt play great against fulham but importantly got the points now we need to turn in a performance against derby to make amends for the shocking away defeat earlier in the season . also good to see some young lads on the way to the club and english too bodes well for the future

I agree what you say Andy, but a year ago we would have lost that game!! as Sam has said you sometimes have to win ugly, Chelsea do it on a regular basis, Man Utd do it, even Arsenal sometimes have to get stuck in and fight!!

The bottom line is we won the game 1 – 0 and got 3 points!

agree with the both of you, we would have lost that match a season or so ago, we kept on going till the last minutes, alike the birmingham match.

and its good that the team spirit is strong, long may it continue, but i voice the concern that MO coming straight back into the team after injury may harm this.
