Newcastle and Villa Linked With Peru Defender

It’s the silly season and Newcastle have been linked with yet another defender today, 23 year-old Alberto Rodriguez of Peru, who is a 5’10” tall defender.

Alberto Rodriguez – defender has played 31 times for Peru

Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the Peruvian, but we don’t know if there is any truth in these stories at all. In case Newcastle are interested, here is some information on the player. But we would seriously doubt whether Newcastle Chairman Chris Mort will sanction another defender coming to the Tyneside club, who does not have Premiership experience.

Alberto Junior Rodríguez Valdelomar, otherwise known as Rodríguez, was born in Lima, Peru, in March, 1984. He plays for Sporting de Braga in the Superliga and has represented the Peru National side on 31 occasions.

Before moving to Braga, he played for Sporting Cristal in Lima, Peru, a total of 155 times and scored 15 goals. He has so far played 15 times for Braga and scored one goal. Rodríguez represented Peru during the qualifying stages of the 2006 World Cup, and played for Peru in Copa América 2007.

He is contracted to Braga until the end of 2010. Other clubs said to be interested in the player include Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Boavista, as well as Premiership clubs Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

If he is as good as Nolberto, he will do for me, we should ask him. What say you Tom Toon? However, I doubt if there is any truth in this rumour.

5 ’10 and he is a centre back seems extremely small for a centre back

Why go on about all these iraqi players they had enough publicity during the asian cup to be signed by better team already.

Ive got a theory why Jose Enrique isnt playing:

    Current back four:

    Beye–Capaca–Rozehnal–Zog: All Speak French
    Beye–Tayls–Rozehnal–Zog: All Speak English

Enrique : Doesn’t Speak English or French.

hey thats a really good observation

maybe sam is going to let him fully learn the language and then let him play more often…

he obviously is the man manager we all heard he was, making sure individuals are right for a team.

@Dragoner – If we got lose on Sunday? I see it as very little of chance the Rams can do the double against us.

@Toom_Ton – Enrique doesn’t speak English or French because he is a Spanish Bull I guess, and he will speak with his football sooner rather than later.

Oh…by the way, he can speak Portuguese with Cacapa 😉

Why not ? Had more luck with Preuvians (Nobby) than French Boumsong, Domi.Guivarche) or Spanish ( Marcellino) over the years.
Nobby will sell the club to the lad
The price has gotta be right for the lad, we can’t go spending silly money as per usual just to secure a signature.
