It’s the silly season and Newcastle have been linked with yet another defender today, 23 year-old Alberto Rodriguez of Peru, who is a 5’10†tall defender.
Alberto Rodriguez – defender has played 31 times for Peru
Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the Peruvian, but we don’t know if there is any truth in these stories at all. In case Newcastle are interested, here is some information on the player. But we would seriously doubt whether Newcastle Chairman Chris Mort will sanction another defender coming to the Tyneside club, who does not have Premiership experience.
Alberto Junior RodrÃguez Valdelomar, otherwise known as RodrÃguez, was born in Lima, Peru, in March, 1984. He plays for Sporting de Braga in the Superliga and has represented the Peru National side on 31 occasions.
Before moving to Braga, he played for Sporting Cristal in Lima, Peru, a total of 155 times and scored 15 goals. He has so far played 15 times for Braga and scored one goal. RodrÃguez represented Peru during the qualifying stages of the 2006 World Cup, and played for Peru in Copa América 2007.
He is contracted to Braga until the end of 2010. Other clubs said to be interested in the player include Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Boavista, as well as Premiership clubs Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
