Sam Cancels Newcastle Christmas Camp

New news today that Big Sam has scrapped his plan to take the Newcastle squad away on a training camp immediately after the Boxing Day game against Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium.

Big Sam – Hey lads, Christmas is canceled!

Why Sam has cancelled the camp is not clear, and we know one or two of the players were unhappy with the arrangements since it takes them away even more from their families over the Christmas period. Maybe it was because of the up-tick in form of the lads, but in any case this seems a good decision by the manager, in the circumstances.

Sam talked about the situation today:

“Hotels are a bit under-staffed over the Christmas period, so we’ll be coming straight home on Boxing Day, and this will be better for us if we have any players in need of treatment.”

After tomorrow’s game against Derby County (and hopefully 3 points), the team will travel across the Pennines for the Wigan game on Boxing day, which has a 3:00 pm KO time. . It’s then off to Stamford Bridge for a rather difficult game against Chelsea next Saturday (3:00 pm KO), so 6 points from the next 2 games is what we both want and need. We think we can do just that.

i dont think its a good thing that they cancelled it. i think that the players get paid too much to be able to whing on about not being able to have time at home after boxing day, fair enough if the camp was on xmas day…

Don’t understand this… Surely if they were going on a camp that would take the players away from their families? By cancelling ti doesn’t it mean they just spend Boxing Day at home after the game?!
