HT: Newcastle 1 Derby 1: Newcastle Poor

The incredible happened, after only 6 minutes today at St. James’ Park, when Derby County’s young Giles Barnes hit a goal from 28 yards out past Given into his right hand corner. The bottom of the league team were 1-0 up against the Magpies.
That ruined the chance of Newcastle getting a clean sheet and a win. Newcastle did come back into the game and were attacking Derby at every opportunity and they should have had a penalty when Alan Smith was clearly pushed in the box trying to get on the end of a Charles N’Zogbia corner but the referee waved play on.

mark-viduka-121.jpg

Mark Viduka – nice goal by Mark to equalize the score

But Newcastle were level after 27 minutes when Mark Viduka took a good chance and hammered the ball in the net after being set up nicely by Alan Smith, Newcastle’s captain for the day.

The formation Sam is using is weird, to say the least, with Martins out on the right and Milner out on the left. It seems to us this is playing into Derby’s hands and martins should be ion the center where he would be much mire dangerous.

Derby look what they are, a team struggling at the bottom of the league but Newcastle have not been able to capitalize on several half chances that have come their way.

Anything other than a win today will be unacceptable and we expect Emre to be introduced shortly into the second half and even Steven Taylor, who has proved he can score goals in situation like this.

But Sam’s formation is almost like a barrier to Newcastle’s free flowing attack. And we have out most dangerous player and top scorer, Oba Martins, stuck out on the right wing. Why Sam will not play 4-4-2 at home, we have no idea.

60 minutes in and it’s 1-2. I don’t know……………sigh. I honestly thought BSA would be the answer for us at the start of the season, but with continuous tactics like these I’d be almost relieved for us to stuitter to the finish line this season still safe, and maybe even think AGAIN about starting anew. It is true that when Sir Boby packed his bags and golf clubs we’ve been mostly playing ponderous, often clueless tactics ever since.
For a start, right now we should be bringing on Emre and Duff for Butt and Smith!

I dont care what the final result is, this match is utterly painfull to watch.
Derby Feckin’ County – who’ve only WON ONE GAME ALL SEASON (no prizes for guessing who against) – come to ST JAMES’ PARK and outplay us!
2-2 VIDUKA – STILL SO SHIT

I don’t understand why we can’t play the way we play the last 10 mins of games the rest of the 80 mins! Why?

Emre should be playing instead of barton, with him we get better distribution guaranteed!

    Martins wasted on the right!

DOn’t think Rozehnal was totally at fault, it was Cacapa’s fault too!

and for some reason, we just cant be arsed for 3 of the 4 weeks every month.
arsenal used up all our effort, so we think its acceptable to just f**k about like a bunch of lazy bastards for the rest of the time apparently.

Rozy is VERY suspect and Ive been saying this for months.
    Cacapa is equally poor.
We should have Taylor starting every game.
Beye looking really good, Zog had a terrible game – but HE IS NOT A LEFT BACK!!!! Why aren’t we playing Enrique?

I cannot understand BS’s teaem selections and formations – they are fecking stupid to be kind.

    Why can’t we play 442?

    Christ, it’s not rocket science.

How many more chances do the BIG SAM fanboys want to give him?

He shows us week in week out, he is tactically stupid.

Might as well have my say. Again Smith is good for nothing. It would be better to have Martins and Viduka close together up front and have an extra midfielder. As it is we have a guy who does not score and whinges like Bellamy. I think Smith showed what Sams tactics are all about. With him as captain the game plan was always going to be physical when it should have been be skillfull against a team like derby. Barton and Roz looked too comfortable on the ball and Roz’s heading is poor. I’d like to see Emre given more time because once again it looked like we only came alive in the final ten. I hope sams game plan is not always going to be get them fit so we can run the other side raggard and win in the last ten when they are tired. I think the fact we finally scored from open play with viduka shows his game is more suited to the long balls and big man. Duff looked good and I hope he starts soon and we move Miner to the right. Oba played like shit and has got to start shooting with his first touch.

Urgh what a frustrating game to watch.

Barton’s full of shite so far. Overrated so far.

I don’t get it, you try to save games by putting milner on the right, putting a left winger and martins central to get goals! SO WHY ARENT YOU STARTING LIKE THIS IF YOU FEEL THIS CAN GET YOU A GOAL. DOESN”T THAT MEAN YOU”RE GONNA GET A GAOL WITH THAT SORT OF SETUP ANY OTHER TIME AS WELL!

Zog came alive when released up front and it rteally would be nice to see a proper formation. Please sam next week
    Given
Beye. capaca, Taylor, Enrique( Where is he??)
    Milner, Emre, Zogbia, Duff
    …….Martins…..viduka

Bench Harper, Smith, Geremi, Butt, Roz

Smith can alway come on as a striker though god knows why

Its attacking minded and we may well concede some as it leaves us without a DF but we letting goals in any way might as well get some boys who can score on the ball

Jesus, that man has no idea what to do with the players we have.We could have a really,REALLY good team if played correctly.

I don’t care if he has been here 5 minutes,or if everyone else in the football world deems it irresponsible and reckless,BSA gotta go man.

This is worse than I had dreamt it might be under him.
4-4-2 = play to our strengths.
What he’s playing now is rubbish and wasting the players talent.
Derby did well second half but as soon as Duff came on and switched Milner to the right it was better.WHY CAN’T YOU SEE THAT BSA?????

Two wingers, two front men.Schoolboy tactics that would make us play very nicely I feel.
Stop with the moronic formations ffs.You aren’t clever and we won’t stop until you’re gone or you see sense.

Mr Ashley, you’re an excellent businessman and no mug. Please sort this out a.s.a.p.

Today, can any of the Big Sam fanboys tell me why firstly, we play anything other than 442?

    Secondly, why
Smith – who was shockingly poor,
Barton – who got caught in possession numerous times and looked slow and indecisive throughout,
Martins – looked lost, no first touch and no enthusiasm
Rozenhal – dreadfull defending again, at fault for the Derby second goal

why were any of these players starting?
Or in Martins case, starting as a right winger, when he’s a striker!!!!???

Im absolutely fed up of watching shocking football.

I mean, I know its panto season but which other team in the world could go to Derby County AND LOSE….

Then let them come here and NEARLY LOSE!!!???

Theres not ONE OTHER team in the Prem that this would be the case….

Enough 4-3-3! We are not Bolton, we don’t have the personnel to do that.. we don’t have a wing forward in martins, he’s a central striker a finisher a speed demon who lives off 1 on 1s and being in around the box to shoot.

if u wanna play 4-3-3 don’t play martins! play a winger like milner! Not even Smith can do a job as a wing forward!

I genuinely cant believe what Ive just seen. A head, or heads, need to roll somewhere. Sam but the attacking team out, but obviously insisted on long ball AGAIN!!
Duff came on and ran the game thank God, but Barton was dreadful, along with Smith and Martins was obviously looking forward to the African Cup too much.
What a truly odd team we are! Just thank God that Viduka got the second, coz I swear I was ready to hang up my Newcastle shirt until Sam had gone.
It’s embarrassing really, and God knows what lies ahead for us in 2008! If it isnt a change in manager in th summer, then I cant see anything other that an en-masse overhaul of the team.

Given, Emre, N’Zogbia, Beye, Faye, Martins, Viduka, Duff thats 9 now simply pick the other 2.

My other 2 would be barton and taylor/capaca, undecided atm.

Butt and smith souldnt even be on the bench.

Get someone to play on the right on the attack as martins touch isnt good enough, i dont want to play 4-3-3 at all but the forward line of:

    Farfan-Viduka-Duff may work.
