Newcastle Need Perfect Result Today

Newcastle fans around the world will be tuning in to the TV broadcast of Newcastle’s game against Derby County today. A win and a clean sheet would be the perfect result for Newcastle’s faithful fans, and we think the lads can do it.

We pointed out yesterday that although Derby have a new manager in Paul Jewell, who always has a knack of getting his players to play at 100% of their capabilities, their record in the league is just awful. There are several reasons why Newcastle can get the perfect result this afternoon:

  • Newcastle are in form with 7 points from their last 3 games.
  • Newcastle are at home in front of another 52,000 capacity crowd at St. James’ Park
  • It’s just before Christmas time so an excellent time to give our faithful fans a nice Christmas present
  • Derby County have only scored 6 goals in the league this season
  • Newcastle need revenge for being the only team Derby have beaten this season. Derby have only 6 points, but 3 of them were from their win against Newcastle in September at Pride Park, when Newcastle were just awful
  • There’s only one game this season, of 8 away games, that Derby have not been defeated – and that was a draw

That’s a lot of good reasons why Newcastle should be able to get all 3 points and a clean sheet today.

But we don’t want to be too tough on the lads, we’ll be satisfied with just the 3 points.
