Mark Easily Man of the Match

Mark Viduka gave several interviews after the game yesterday, which is not surprising since he was easily Newcastle’s Man of the Match yesterday.

Mark Viduka – easily Man of the Match yesterday

Mark spoke to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle after the game yesterday:

“After the game the dressing room was like we had lost the game.” “Everybody was disappointed and even though we got the draw in the end we were disappointed because we should be winning games like that.”

“Derby went out and played very well. They’ve been struggling for confidence but they were excellent.” “But if we want to be a top side we have to win games like that.”

Mark now has 5 goals for the club this season, which is not too bad given the injuries he has had. Viduka looked a class act for Newcastle yesterday, and we could so easily have been beaten if Mark hadn’t taken both his chances so well.

But not surprisingly Mark says the game didn’t go to plan – at least not to Newcastle’s plan for the game. Mark added:

“I think our plan was to get an early goal and get the wind up them a bit.” “But it wasn’t to be and they scored a beautiful first goal and that was that.”“In general in the first half we did create some chances.” “And we could have been level a lot earlier or even a goal up.”

“I thought there was a definite penalty for Alan Smith in the first half when he was taken out with a scissor kick. But sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don’t.” “It was one of those games that we wanted to come back and win but we couldn’t force the victory.”

And, reflecting on his first goals for Newcastle since the 3-1 win over West Ham in September, Viduka added: “Basically for the first goal Smudge was fighting for the ball on the floor and I thought if it came out, that there was a shot on – which is what happened, and I shot on the turn.

“For the second, Oba won the ball on the edge of the box from Darren Moore and it bounced free for me.” “I practice them every day in training.” “We are disappointed and we really should have three points.” “We will have to be up for it on Boxing Day at Wigan.” “They had a good result against Blackburn and scored five goals, so we’ll have to be up for it.”

As we’ve said a few times this morning, we can right the Newcastle ship quickly by beating Wigan on Boxing Day. They are 2nd bottom of the league and we should be able to beat them if we play anywhere near the level we can played.

But we may need a clean sheet to get the job done on Boxing Day.

What do you think?

Let is know – comments and opinions always welcome – thanks.

13 games, some of which from the bench, 5 goals~free transfer~just what we needed. he comes up trumps again. each time he has scored, he has got up something, without his 2 goals yesterday we were beat, without his goal away to boro, we would have lost, at home to west ham, his goals won the game as it would have been 1-1 otherwise. Viduka has well and truly arrived.

Good for him that he scored twice, but let’s be honnest the line-up was again beneath all standards!!! Our top scorer Oba had to play as a left winger, come on why on earth does he have to change positions all the time. Let him for once play in his natural position!!!!

I’ve got enough of the stupid choices SA makes.

Ill just ask them and people can answer if they know…..

    1) is Gold alot better than silver membership?

    2) Can you play against other people with a silver membership?

    3) if i get the Gold one can i pay for it just by adding it to my bill at the end of the month or do i need a card to buy it online?

I think consistency is the main problem with Viduka. He can be class one day, like yesterday, but then be lazy and uninterested the next. Hopefully with a good run in the team, he can start to show some of the form he had with Middlesbrough last season. There is no doubt of his quality and he is a key player for us.

Anyone else think our team should be:

Beye, Taylor, Cacapa or Faye, Nzogbia
    Milner, Smith,Butt or Emre, Duff
    Viduka, Martins

If Duff is not fit to start, why not play Butt in Midfield with Emre on left mid.

Barton had another shocker yesterday, he really is not in form.

Viduka and Martins up front for sure, Smith as backup for Viduka.

Smith n Geremi should be allowed nowhere near our team.

    Beye Faye Taylor Enrique/Zog
    Milner Butt/Barton Emre Duff/Zog
    Viduka Martins/Owen

    every game when possible.

“Smith n Geremi should be allowed nowhere near our team.”

The same can be said about Milner Butt and Oba!
