Ferguson – Newcastle Manager Not A Job You Want

Manchester United veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson, has poured some cold hard facts on the manager situation at Newcastle United.

Sir Alex Ferguson – Newcastle Manager not a job you want

And his words should help Sam Allardyce as he is under severe pressure because of the poor results in the last couple of games. Sir Alex comes out with it, and says anyone who wants to manage Newcastle must be crazy. It’s a job, Ferguson says, that that carries the weight of expectation of a Big Four club, but Newcastle just don’t have the squad to back that expectation up.

Sit Alex said today:

“It seems to me every time Newcastle lose a game the manager is under pressure,” “How many managers have they had in my time at United? At least 10. I’m not so sure it’s a job you want.”

“I’d be astounded if they got rid of Sam,” “I am convinced that of all the managers they’ve had, he’s capable of doing better than most of them.

“The thing with Newcastle fans is they think they should be winning games 5-0,” “The worst thing that happened was beating us 5-0 (in 1996) because after that they expected to do it every time — and that was 11 years ago!”

Sections of Newcastle fans are calling for Sam Allardyce to be sacked, but Ferguson supports Big Sam in the Newcastle manager position. Changing managers has certainly not worked over these last 10 years for Newcastle, who have not won a trophy for close to 40 years.

We remember that little saying – Patience is a virtue – in our current situation. But it’s still hard to be patient after our two previous performances.

Comments welcome.

A lot of the flack being directed at BSA is unwarrented, however, playing so many players out of position, playing tactics the players dont seem to understand, has to be down to him.

We have fit professional players for each and every position, with back-ups for most of them, so why do it??

I agree that sacking Sam isnt the answer to our problems as a club, but playing the way we are doing, with the players we have at the club is also unacceptable. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves because some of them just aint doing themselves justice, or the club, or the fans who ultimately pay their wages.

The performance on the pitch needs to improve dramatically against Chelsea which is down to them putting in the effort. Putting the right 11 players on the pitch, in a 4-4-2 formation they know, is down to Sam.

As long as every player, fights to his last breath, for the 90 minutes, there will be no complaints from me. Unfortunately, its just not happening with all the players. We need to go to Chelsea with only the thought of winning, or going down with all guns blazing – anything less is a betrayal of the Club and the Fans.

When will Sir Alex Ferguson and other managers see it from the fans side, we get paid a lot less then they do and they don’t relise the we have to pay for travel and food and drink, it easy passes over £50 a home game and upto £100 a away game. Then there’s family too i have a son who goes to the games too, an away game costs me 3 days pay so i think i should be at least entertained. These managers have no respect for fans.

And to all of you that say we have had our best start in years, I tell you it will be the worst points on the 1st of jan for 4 years, when we get beaten today. 27 points is what we have had in recent years at this time and we have played better teams by this point.

When |pig Sham| gets no money to spend in the transfer window, it will scream out that the owner does not back him. So what is the point of him continuing in the job. I know this is the same old same old with changing managers, but we have a new owner, FFS is long gone, so MA should get his own man into the job and we can all move forward with a clean slate.

If he could see what was wrong or be able to apportion some of the blame to himself with his ludicrous tactics and player selection. He might have got away with it! but sadly he can’t and won’t….

The reason alex doesnt get slated as he doesn’t play ronaldo at left back rooney as a defensive midfielder, plays with one up front – he cant run, tactics that persistantly do not work…im sure all munure fans would welcome being out played by derby / wigan / reading played off the park by the unwashed… moving in the right direction… Yeah right!

Its a joke for fergy to come out & blame the fans why not mention team tactics… i know i would!, which other top 10/15 team would want allardyce if we sack him…he wants out, ashley knows why else does he persist with these tactics. he’s got a small club mentality-t0 stop teams playing, fair enough if we are a championship side with no quality in our ranks, sam knows he isnt getting results his style??? (1 trick pony-no plan b)..so why not give the fans what they want to see FOOTBALL. we would respect him a whole lot more for it.

yea, there have been a few comments from allardyce lovers about fans unrealistic expectations, ummm to watch a game of football?!!! we’re not asking him to win the league, eventually you’d hope we would, but unrealéistic expectations, oh right ok, so we’re supposed to go “that was rubbish, but we’re nufc, we dont expect anyone who pulls on the shirt to really care that much”, c’mon, thats the most ignorant thing ive heard! you pull on that shirt, if you cross that white line, you bleed black and white, bottom line!

i’d never throw the towel in but how more can we show how bloody pissed off we are?! doesnt help when sam says things like “i know what works and i know when things get tough just stick to your guns”…..

dear me, life is gonna be so empty without the excitement of watching nufc

If I was Mike Ashley I would sell now, we will never win anything because of the fanatical support. Every manager is under pressure before he even starts the job. If you dont like it stop going, nobody makes you pay the money.
In 2years if Sam is doing ok you will all be flocking back. This is nothing new, I dont know how old everyone is that posts, but when I went to EVERY away game in my youth we went all season without winning in fact we had two 6-0 defeats in a row, and still kept going, we went for the fun of it, with our mates, LIGHTEN UP.

Everything is in place for NUFC to be massive, i get totally pissed off with fans / managers of other teams having a go at us for being unrealistic, what is wrong with demanding success, ok shall we settle for mediocrity Its not in the geordie gene pool. Newcastle is a Football mad city! we crave success.. so negative managers have no place here if you do not know what we are about and the way we want to see the game played, you should not be here..
    sams bigest signings so far
1 Smith – sam still doesnt know where to play him.
    2 Enrique – cant get a game.
    3 Barton – Jail.
    this isnt helping.

Other managers should keep their traps shut, because they can’t possibly know enough to talk about Newcastle or the fans. Saying the fans are unrealistic and unfair to the team/manager is also a load of bs. The way the team have been playing lately has not even been worth paying to see, and I do feel with all the loyal fans who go far and away to support the team, and then gets payed back with some of the worst football. Other team manager, like in this case Ferguson, apparently can’t put themselves in the position of the fans, and therefore they should not speak. And another thing, what in the devil has the 5-0 beating got to do with any of this?? poor choice of arguments and words fergie! maybe he’s still sour about the loss ? 😀 haha

Agree entirely with some of the above comments. I am sick to death of everyone who thinks they are anyone having a go at Newcastle fans for their foolish expectations and demands.

Why the hell is Fergie giving it large about Newcastle? It has sod all to do with him. He and other managers/ex players/ so called media experts do not fork out their money week in week out and watch the kind of stuff we are having to.

So to all of them – you may be so called experts but you do not care tuppence about our team – SO SHUT UP. The difference is WE DO AND WE CONTINUOUSLY PUT OUR MONEY INTO SUPPORTING OUR TEAM DESPITE HAVING NO SUCCESS.

In my opinion it shouldn’t matter if the fans are booing, it’s their right as a paying customers. It’s not up to the fans to fire the manager. Hopefully our new regime will be more patient than our last. Sir Alex is right, Sam needs a lot more time. Not months but years. If we are to be attractive to top class managers we need to be more patient. I’m trying to be more patient with this shit football.

just back big sam it took him time at bolton but in the end nearly got them in the champions league and well be pushing for that in a few years just be patient first thing he wants to do is get results even if its not attractive witch i admit were not getting at them moment but it will come in time just look at all the players he brought to bolton
we could have players like that and dont say watching bolton was unpleasent with them players in there team.

Oh Jesus Christ! Come on Ed, and the rest of you Fat Sam supporters – the cold hard fact is – we WOULD all be supporting Sam if if seemed to be making any sodding sense at all with his team and strategy selections. The man has been in the job for over 6 months now and if he still cant figure out where players are supposed to play then he aint gonna figure it out.

Excuses excuses excuses (injuries, players not mine, the fans, african nations cup, transfer window, xmas break etc etc) GET OVER IT!!! EVERY MANAGER HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!

When/If he starts to play people where they should and has some positive tactics THEN people will get behind him even if we lose because at least then we know that he has the right idea.

When we lose, and its blatantly the managers’ fault, then we have every right to say he needs to go!

what is worrying the most fans is the unconvincing & bad performances in almost all games we played so for. Even some we won unconvincingly. we could do much better with those players already have. We could accept defeats but not like those clueless unattractive pathetic games Sam applied on his team on the pitch.

All i ever hear is “we have every right”, “we are the customer”, “blah blah blah” i know football is a business nowadays but lets try and see it as a sport shall we, lighten up. No one is making you pay to go watch the games so stop complaining about how much money you earn compared to them. If you dont like it, dont go. simple.

NO NO NO – read his last paragraph and absorb just what he has said. It is insulting in the extreme. It strikes me it is nearer to the point that the 5-0 thrashing still rankles with him.

That guy is the perfect wind up merchant and despite his huge success I do not trust one word that comes out of his mouth.

We have had terrible managerial appointments made by freddie shepherd since bobby got the push, does fergie think souness/glenda or allerdyce could get top european jobs elsewhere? the reason they have been sacked or should be is because they are shit.. every other team think we have given managers a rough time of it, well as ive said put them in charge of your team if you think they are quality…we are made out as if we are glory hunters demanding trophys time after time. we haven’t won nowt since 69 gloryhunters? F@ck off
the reason we are pissed off is we have seen our team going consistantly backwards since shepherd took over from sir john, weve had champions league to uefa to interjoko to now 2yrs bottom half of the premiership struggling, we are only trying to stop the rot everyone can see it the proof is there for all to see, allerdyce’s tactics are quite frankly questionable & shocking we rarely have shots at goal these days, you might like your football played this way but we don’t, would this be good enough for the manure’s chelski’s arses. No, so why should it be ok for the geordies to put up with this.
C’mon mike step up to the table big fella and make us great again, you would be a legend in these parts.

fergie has a cheek , je was nearly shown the door on many occasion , and is only still there cos of results .
when sam starts getting them , then maybe fergie can stick his nose in .
all these managers comming out and defending him , just makes sam look more of a chump , hard not to realise its all his buddy’s letting there voice be heard .
fergie has put sam in this position aswell by selling him a striker who must get his game , be it out of position or in his natural one where he doesnt score .
if sam put as much faith in the fan’s as he does in the rejects he’s bought , then we wouldnt be in this mess .
he’d line up a 442 with emre and butt in the centre , zoggy and milner on the wings and oba/viduka up front , 4 at the back .
problems solved , fans on your side , points in the bag .
ohh , i bet you dont hear fergie on about ‘containing’ bottom of the league .

How come the fans CAN pick a better team..
How could he go wrong giving the the fans the team they want to see played IN THEIR positions..he would have all the fans on side its our team.
negative tactics will never be acceptable at SJP, he hasnt learn’t a damn thing since he’s been here.
Thats why i beleive he wants out something is not right! how can he not see the tactics are not working.
i would be 110% behind him if we play Football the way the fans want and players played in their favoured positons, we aint bothered if we go down with a fight its when we go down with a wimper & no shots against lesser opisition, that hurts we aint no quiters up here.

fergies right in a way, but souness was given money to spend that wenger and benitez would dream off and f***ed it up.

and given sams 3 6m signings have all been shit or not given a chance and one in prison, would you give him the kind of money it would take to get us where we want to be.

on the other hand fergie is talking shit, when im watching us capitulate to derby and wigan that 5-0 nil game never crosses my mind.

he’s right! All these managers you have do well everywhere else, the moment the manager joins your team you think he’s god , and then 2 games later he’s the worst manager ever who cant handle the expectations of a big club, despite the fact that the majority of them have managed far bigger clubs than Newcastle. Your all in la la land. Newcastle isnt a big club and you never will be
