The transfer window opens up today, so it seemed appropriate to ask Big Sam if anybody would be leaving the Tyneside club.
Sam Allardyce – is anybody leaving Newcastle in January?
Sam told the Newcastle Journal today:
“We have no offers from anyone so it is a ‘no’ at the moment,†“It would have to be a very lucrative offer for anyone to move away from the club unless someone tells me they do not want to stay.â€
“I am putting players forward to the chairman and decisions will be made from there,†“I was never given an indication of a budget in the summer. We went from player to player and it will be similar in January.â€
“I said in the summer the transfer window is not an enjoyable time because of the uncertainty surrounding players and the constant speculation about players arriving and leaving, but January is even worse.â€
“ It is in the middle of the season, there are games coming thick and fast and you are also trying to conduct your transfer business in frenzy because of the constraints put on you by the transfer window.â€
We would expect Shola Ameobi and Stephen Carr to be two players we could move out of the club, if some decent offers are received this month. Carr’s contract is up in June and Shola isn’t even involved on the subs’ bench these days, and cannot be very happy at his future prospects at the club. Also, Matty Pattison could move permanently to Norwich City, if a suitable deal can be worked out with Glenn Roeder.
We expect some announcement shortly that Newcastle have officially signed Ben Tozer, the 17 year-old from Swindon Town, and we expect Wesley Ngo Baheng, an 18 year old striker from Le Havre, the French second division side, to move to the club soon.
