Newcastle Officially Bid For Wes Brown

Newcastle United have already made an official offer for Manchester United defender Wes Brown.

Wes Brown – Newcastle have officially bid for the defender

Brown will become a free agent in the summer when his Old Trafford contract expires, and he has been stalling for several months on signing a new contract that has been offered to him. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed before Christmas that Brown had rejected the club’s final offer and there would be no increased deal for the long time servant of the Premiership Champions.

Sam Allardyce, Newcastle manager wanted Brown at the Reebok Stadium while he was at Bolton, but now sees him as the ideal defender to steady the Newcastle defense. It turns out the defender has been enjoying his most sustained injury-free run in the Manchester team for years and has been deputizing for injured captain Gary Neville since last March.

Ferguson’s squad is already set to be one defender light with 20-year-old Jonny Evans set for an imminent return to Sunderland on loan for three months. But if Ferguson waits until the summer he will get nothing for Wes Brown, who doesn’t seem to be wavering on wanting to stay at Manchester United. Former team-mates Alan Smith and Nicky Butt are already at Newcastle, and no doubt have been trying to persuade Wes to join them on Tyneside.
Comments very welcome.

    Dear Mr Mort

    Please get us :

    Huntelaar
    Diego
Jesus Navas (Sevilla’s brilliant young right winger)
    Arshvain
    Hutton
    Shorey
    And Walcot on loan

Pay any price their club wants. Because they would turn us into a top four 4 team overnight.

    Many Thanks

Wes Browns a class player not a cast off. Good idea if we can get him. Question is why would he or anyone else come to SJP right now?

Josh – just imagine our midfield of :

    Navas Arshvain Diego NZogbia

Blistering pace and experience. Nobody would be able to cope with us. We could get all of them if we are willing to pay.

That would actually be shit hot! Plus Arshavin can get back and do some defensive work, as can Nzogbia.

If he can do a decent job at LB while Enrique remains out of favour, and thereby let Zoggas get up to midfield on a regular basis, then fine. I still want to see what happens when you put Milner (or someone who can actually cross) wide right, Duff wide left, and Zog down the middle. Fun to watch.

Let’s also keep in mind the possibility of domestic player quotas in the future. We do ok for English players, but we need to keep the stock up to take advantage of this if it happens.

Arshavin has already said he wants to come

Navas wants to play in the premiership but none of the top four are interested because his form has suffered since Ramos left. So we could get him for a cheaper price.

Diego would come if we made his club a deal they couldn’t turn down. Ashley has always said he wants to sign a world class player that stuns the world of footballer. Well go for Diego because he is still a kid and would be the heartbeat of the team for the next 10 years.

Joshi and James… calm down, fellas! Three things:

    1. We’ve had decades of trying to just buy big names rather than addressing the real problems. Doesn’t work. One word: Shepherd.

    2. Even if any were willing to come here given the treatment we dish out to our players, Mort knows better than to splurge money like that. He’s trying to reduce the club’s debt, which is one of those ‘real problems’.

    3. Football Manager ain’t all that, so trust it less.

We have some good defenders already. Taylor, Cacapa, Beye, faye………I think all of them are also good enough.
A DM and creative midfield are the positions we need to strengthen rather than the defence, especially we will lose faye during the african cup……….butt is our weakness……..most of our ball are loss on the box area………Obviously, the reason is our DM cannot give enough protection to our four defenders.
Faye is a good choice but we will lose him in the next month. So, plz sign another quality DM.
DM is more necessary than a defender.

I find it amazing and quite funny when people talk of a million or two million being a lot of money (for players like Wes Brown, Ben Haim etc). 1 and 2 million is nothing much, really, in the scheme of things (especially when you look back at, say, 8 million for Boumsong and 9 million for Viana years ago).
3 would be fine for Brown, though admittedly he’s out-of-contract soon…

I think Wes Brown would be a good squad player and is still young for improvement. He will also keep Beye (who has been excellent) on his toes. That Russian Arshvain looks powerful but i still prefer Darren Bent especially now that it’s all gone quiet for the player. He is a true talent who has great potential to be really good and has already got the experience in the premiership. Would love to have Diego in Newcastle as he will be a star one day for sure..just hope it’s with us. We need his technique on the ball as we don’t have many classy players in the team. I don’t see why we couldn’t go for Gareth Barry from Aston Villa and David Bentley from Blackburn. Both are quality players and play in the EPL, the best part is they are consisitant (like Milner), and that’s what we always lack in Newcastle…consistancy!! To top it off I would get Bridge or Shorey for LB as that still is one of our weak points and could free N’Zogbia further upfield. Saviola for Owen is another that could be beneficial or maybe even Anelka (The Sulk).

    Howay the Lads! 🙂

Another one thats crept in my head is Crouch..he would link up perfectly with our front players, very underrated player who surprisingly has great ball control. Holds the ball up well like Viduka but he is much quicker. Would be great to watch Owen and Crouch up front. Next match swap them both with Viduka and Martins…it’s possible as I don’t think Benetiz rates him highly and could be looking to offload the giant.

I agree about Crouch, out of favour at Liverpool and shouldn’t cost too much, although Ashton would be my preferred choice. I don’t think lumping high balls up to Crouch would be very easy on the eye, which Sam would probably use him for, but he’s a very effective player all the same.

    wishlist would consist of:
    hutton
    brown
    albelda
    arshavin
    diego
    alex (fenerbache)
    crouch
    shorey
    huntelaar

similar to what people have been saying, all class players, in real life too not just in my fm toon team! joking!

unfortunately, we’ll only get brown probably since allardyce doesn’t like attacking, i mean a team of players that can score goals.

Man U cast off, great 🙁 (sarcasm), I keep seeing this “Sam wanted him while at Bolton” Well that speeks volumes to me!!!!!!!!!

I hope it’s just media rubbish cos I don’t think he is class, good maybe but not class player or Fergie would be keeping him @Man U. Also he’s had some bad injuries so he’s probably heard about our hospital facilities and thinks he’ll fit right in.

Quoted on the official Man U site, Alex Ferguson has said:

“There was an enquiry from Newcastle about Wes and we turned it down. The matter rests with Wes and his agent. We’ll just wait and see what happens. Our offer is still there – it’s now up to Wes.”

Manure have rejected the Toon’s bid, I can’t see him being released as Fergie has already loaned the Mackems a defender for the rest of the season, I think he’ll stay put.

Not being funny, but why the hell are we trying to BUY a player like this. He is good to get on a free but we should never be paying money for him, he aint that good. Whumpie the players James has mentioned don’t seem like football manager suggestions. They are all available to watch on the TV or through internet streaming, and i must say that they are all good players.

if you lot havn’t noticed we cant get out of the bottom half as it is and signing players from the best teams in the world isnt gonna make our situation worse. fergie wants to keep him, he’s offered him 3 contrct i think now so he’s hardly a cast off if he’s choosin to leave
