Duff Tells It Like It Is – We Were A Disgrace

Damien Duff has spoken out today against the Newcastle players, and rightly says some of the performance recently have been disgraceful – he’s right there.

Damien Duff – tells it like it is – good!
Damien talked today about Newcastle and the players we currently have at the club:

“We’ve got players who belong in the top six – we have one of England’s greatest ever strikers [Michael Owen] – and I know the manager is looking to strengthen” “Top players belong at Newcastle. The club were challenging for Champions League qualification when you [Sir Bobby] were manager and we’ve got to get back up there.”

“He’s a good man and we are all desperate for him to do well, Sam has given the training ground an overhaul and we’re moving in the right direction. He has more or less hit us with the kitchen sink.”

“He’s been great. The other night he was positive again. We put in a good performance against a good Manchester City team, although we didn’t get the result.” “After the game, he said ‘let’s stick together’, which is what we have to do, starting on Sunday.”

“People are going to say it’s Stoke’s Cup final. My mentality is that with the situation we’re in, it’s a cup final for us.” “Six thousand of our fans travelled down to Wigan on Boxing Day and we didn’t have a shot on target.”

“We were a disgrace and if I’d have been in the crowd as a Newcastle punter that day, I’d have given us stick.”

It’s good to hear Damien tell the absolute truth. It’s about time somebody did, and of course the Dublin born Irish International is absolutely right. The team was a disgrace against Wigan Athletic, and Sam just cannot afford another performance like that one.

And sooner rather than later, Newcastle will need to start getting some good results along with some points. Then at least we can still have a chance of something in Europe next year. We still have time yet, but we’ll have to start winning soon, if something is to be salvaged for the season.

And we’re still hoping for something tonight at Stoke City.

Comments welcome.

Thank God for that…..has Sam finally realised that we were all right in calling for a 4-4-2 with an AM needed in the team instead of two DMs!!

All it takes now is for us to play through midfield rather than hoofing the ball from back to front and losing it every time! I have my fingers crossed that this will be Sam’s thinking for all future games….he may win me over yet!!

Oh yeah, Luton played very well, they outplayed Pool.

Talbot seems to be a good player, not that good a finisher, but creates chances, gets behind defenders and made life terrible for Carragher & Hypia.

That 21 year old can only improve with time… Player to watch, definitely.

duff although is awesome when playing well, annoyed me today, every time the pass didnt meet him, he blamed the player who passed the ball. and never held his hand up saying. yes i should have got that one, its that type of attitude that is really damaging out teams moral

Good game to watch. We should have won it in the 1st half, but credit to Stoke who fought all the way.

They came back at us in 2nd half and I thought we defended well and showed great team spirit to keep them at bay. Honours even but we should win it at SJP.
