Carr Returns From Another Injury

Stephen Carr is back again from another of his injuries, as he played the full game last night in Newcastle Reserve’s 3-1 defeat against Sunderland at Kingston Park.

Stephen Carr – back again from his latest injury

His latest injury was a hamstring strain and Sam Allardyce admitted the right-back’s recovery had come at the right time, with Habib Beye having just left for the African Cup of Nations.

Sam said:

“It’s great timing to have Stephen Carr back as Habib Beye has gone away for the African Cup of Nations.” “Stephen is a very experienced player and it will be good to have him back in the first-team picture.”“He needs to work on his match fitness, but that is why the reserve team games are important to us. We will have a look at him over the next few days and then decide whether he plays against Manchester United.”

Stephen’s contract runs out in June and we had thought that Sam may want to try to get some small fee for the player in January. But that doesn’t look to be the case, unless of course an offer comes in for the Irishman.

But to fair to Stephen he seems to play quite well for Big Sam, but of course he’s nowhere near the class of Habib Beye, who will be holding down the right back spot for a few seasons at Newcastle.

Comments very welcome.

As much as I dislike the player we need him and his experience at present, so I can’t see him going anywhere. We’d barely be able to command a fee for him right now anyway so it’s probably for the best, in the end.

No doubt he will play like a hero to get a new contract and then spend the next 12 months being injured as usual.

Get rid, if anyone will take him off our hands, which is highly doubtfull as he is past it.

Seen the goals conceded in Reserve game last night n looked like he was at fault for one being caught out of position or thats how it looked on Sky anyway.

Obviously had a big effect on game and inspired the youngsters judging by the result HA!!!!!

    GET RID.
