Redknapp Tells Friends He’s Next Newcastle Manager

Newcastle United are reported to have made an official approach for Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, and the Portsmouth club have immediately rejected it. However Harry has reportedly told friends he is ready to accept the offer from Newcastle, which is huge.

Harry Redknapp – has told friends he will accept Newcastle’s offer

Portsmouth are however very keen to extract the maximum compensation for the loss of their 60-year-old manager. That’s not too surprising as it comes at a terrible time for the south coast club. Right in the middle of the January transfer window where a lot of work and business goes on. Redknapp has apparently been agonizing over the decision for the past 48 hours, but has now decided to leave Portsmouth.

It’s being reported in the Daily Mail that Harry has already told friends he will accept the “biggest challenge” of his life, as he attempts to take Newcastle United back to greatness.

Compensation for Portsmouth appears to be the main stumbling block to resolve, before Redknapp takes over from Sam Allardyce. Portsmouth chairman, Alex Gaydamark, wants at least £1.5million before the former West Ham manager is unveiled next week. Ashley wants Harry in place before the Stoke City FA Cup replay next Wednesday.

As we reported earlier today, Redknapp will get a £5M/year deal, which is five times his current wage package at Fratton Park – and he will also be allowed to commute from his Sandbanks home in Poole, Dorset. The news coming from the Daily Mail is that Ashley is even prepared to lend his new manager his own private jet for the commute.

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams has already been asked to replace Redknapp, who has led Portsmouth to eighth in the Premier League. Of course Mike Ashley is currently on business in Hong Kong, but has still been able to get the deal sorted out for Harry, obviously with the help of  hard-working Newcastle Chairman, Chris Mort.

Let us know what you think – comments welcome.

Looks like its a sure thing then. We could have done alot wore but i was hoping for a worldclass manager that knows wht the winning feeling is, not just a successfull mid table manager.
One thing though, if he is our new manager then we should support him all the way! With the fans behind him and bagfulls of money from MA then he might just pull it off. ( still wish it was jose!!)

It’s looking more and more likely to be Redknapp. He’s still on bail FFS and he’ll be part time and not much better than FS. This is turning into a nightmare. I hope to God I’m wrong.

Redknapp says not contact with Newcastle for him or Peter Storrey. Lets keep it that way!!

SKY SPORTS NEWS are looking more and more like the proverbial plonkers taht they have always been.
Their sources are having a laugh!!

Unless it is NUFC sources having a laugh, as while Ashley is in Hong Kong, Mr Mort is in Portugal on business…………

    😉

How can we go for Harry FFS, isn’t that just keeping the status quo. Have we no more ambition than him. And I thought we would move on with Ashley and Co, how wrong can I be.

This is Harry the crook for god sake. All he is doing is trying to get a better contract at Portsmouth. He has no intention of coming to Newcastle (and will never be asked anyway).

I honestly won’t be surprised if he doesn’t sign a new bumper deal with Portsmouth soon.

The sky rumours were started by Harry’s Agent most likely

I was just thinking….must be weird to have your manager poached. Have we ever had a manager poached when doing well? I dont think so….must be constantly nervous if a fan of a smaller club

probably like being really ugly but having a fit girlfriend…always worried 🙂

I’d be happy if its Harry – we need experience and ability and he has both. Can’t understand why people want Sir Alan – he would be too much of a gamble given that Ashley wants to spend big on players – Harry has a proven record on signing players and put an emphasis on attack when at West Ham. The bookies are rarely wrong.

UTD111 – who on these posts or any b4 them have said they wanted Sir Alan? you are thinking about the 5 or 6 chavas that sky sports keep playing when they have nothing else to say or make up, look at the poll at the top.

Most people want a world class manager, which ‘arry is well and truely NOT
