Manchester United vs Newcastle Teams – Carr, Cacapa Start

manchester-united-fc.png nufc-crest.png

Nigel Pearson welcomes back Stephen Carr into the Magpies starting eleven after six weeks on the sidelines. Stephen replaces Rozehnal at right back, who drops to the bench.

Claudio Cacapa as expected, returns to the heart of the defense with Abdoulaye Faye away on African Cup of Nations duty. He partners young Steven Taylor.

James Milner returns following illness, Mark Viduka drops to the bench, and captain and former red devil Alan Smith will likely operate in a more advanced role alongside Michael Owen, which we think is Alan’s best position. Jose Enrique gets another start and Duff and N’Zogbia are also in the team.

This is quite an attacking side, with some of our more skillful players finally all in the side together. Looks also like the Zog will be in center midfield – very good.

Emre starts again on the bench, and exciting 17 year-old winger Kazenga LuaLua is again named among the Newcastle substitutes having made his senior debut at Stoke.

Local Newcastle boy Michael Carrick, who was with Newcastle’s Youth Academy 10 years ago, starts for the Red Devils, as do Tevez and Rooney. 🙁

TEAMS:

Manchester United: Edwin Van der Sar, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic, John O’Shea, Rio Ferdinand, Anderson, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney
Subs: Ji-sung Park, Nani, Darren Fletcher, Danny Simpson, Tomasz Kuszczak

Newcastle United: Shay Given, Stephen Carr, Jose Enrique, Steven Taylor, Claudio Cacapa, Nicky Butt, Charles N’Zogbia, James Milner, Damien Duff, Michael Owen, Alan Smith
Subs: David Rozehnal, Emre, Steve Harper, Mark Viduka, Kazenga LuaLua

Referee: Rob Styles
Attendance: ?

Will it be Owen up front on his own. Or will N’zogbia be playing centre mid? If it’s the latter I am excited to see how it works.

I think Nigel dares to go out and play our all beloved 4-4-2; I really hope for him that it works, though it will be very hard. Smith next to Owen, is good for me and Zog in the center.

    Come on TOON!!!

Team looks good. Hopefully Zog will be told to push up and support the strikers.

Million times better than Sam’s teams already if Smith is going in a forward position.

Hopefully Owen will find his shooting boots. I def want to see more passing through midfield rather than hoofing it upfront.

Will be interesting to see if Butt crumbles….

I really hope Smithy pulls off a cracker today and shows us all how we know he can play. It would be a massive kick in the teeth for Sam if Smith shines up front today and is actually allowed to plough forward.

I cant wait for this kick-off. We really dont have much to lose here, so a loss wouldnt be the end of the world, I just want a spirited performance which can show any potential suitors what the team can do when they’re talents arent supressed by a fat, egotistical idiot…

    COME ON THE TOON!!

not impressed with smith or butt – they should be showing what they are capable of, not sulking because they arent wearing a red shirt.

And Carr just looks awful, standing 5 yards behind rooney waving for offside – pathetic.
