Newcastle Players Must Be Ready Today

With all the news on the management front floating around these last couple of days, our important game with Manchester United at Old Trafford will kick off in a short 5 hours.

Nigel Pearson – in charge of the team at Old Trafford today

The players need to be fully ready for the game this afternoon. We are hoping Nigel Pearson, who is in charge of the team today, will be able to get the lads concentrating totally on the game. It cannot have been an easy job for Nigel to prepare the lads for the game this afternoon. But Nigel is a good professional coach, and it’s a chance for him to show what he can do.

There’s been a bevy of activity on the news front as to who the new manager will be. And of course Harry Redknapp, just this morning, turned down the Newcastle offer made to him last night in London. As we said in our preview yesterday, we would be pleased with a point from this game.

Here’s some pictures, taken from the official Newcastle United Web site, of the lads in training yesterday morning, before they flew out to Manchester.

Ben Tozer – our new 17 year-old – wonder what he thinks of all the hassle?

Owen trying to foul Jose to get the ball – no way!

James Milner, fit again – getting personal with Damien – looks like a foul

The only saving grace is that we are not expected to achieve anything at Man Ure anyway, so the pressure should be off.

Who knows, we might even suprise a few and play a good game of footy.

I’ll be cheering them on in Pat’s Bar as usual.

Nige.. just gimme this team (it looks good on paper)

    Taylor, Rozehnal, Cacapa, Enrique
    Milner, Emre, Duff, N’Zogbia
    Owen, Viduka

Sod the defensive midfielder, and let’s hope it doesn’t fold (like paper) 😉

Looks like a good team Adam. We have nothing to lose, we’re not expected to get anything anyway, so might as well go there fighting. Dafter things have happened!!!!!

I agree totally AdamCF – we need to just go all out for a win today and throw caution to the wind. if we get trounced it’s all everyone expects and if we try and contain them we will get hammered!

My thoughts exactly.. Bench players will be Harper, Carr, Lua Lua, Smith & Ameobi. With the selected midfield they’re all good with both feet also, so can overlap and hopefully make themselves hard to mark going forward.. we’ll see 🙂

Butt’s definitely out for two games because he has managed to get 10 yellows already but he can play this match before his ban starts. I thought Emre and Milner were only 50/50, so it is hard to work out what team we will play. Is Martins not available? I thought he missed the Stoke game to play today.

    Right now…………..anyone but McClaren!

I’d like to thank Sam for leaving us with a much better squad than when he started. It may be that some of his buys haven’t proved themselves yet but it really is a far stronger squad to pick 11 from for Perason than it was in GR’s time.
It’s just Sam’s tactics that brought us down, not the personnel! As for today, I hope that we go for a bit more creativity in mf (and pray, or better still fight like terriers)

Anyone interested I have been privy to a bit of information and will gladly share it.
Make of it what you will but Ive just been told that the ‘pay off’ is basically a years tax free pay, the lad who told me was ‘backroom’ staff and is expecting around 60k!!!
He was also with Allardyce just after he found out he was sacked, Allardyce had been told most of his backroom staff were going too. In a show of solidarity or whatever you want to call it, Allardyce gave a speech along the lines of – dont worry lads, we will be back, same old boys, same old tactics just different club.
A get together round at Allardyces was also mentioned after the ‘dust settles’ – he also claims once Allardyce gets his ‘pay off’ he will let his true feelings known about the situation, he is less than impressed with the way he was ‘relieved of his duties’ and whilst remaining calm and polite about the situation now, he has alot to get off his chest.

Also finally, Martin Jols agent had already faxed his clients interest in the post not an hour after the news broke. The ‘source’ saw the email before he left and it was along the lines of ‘keep us informed’.
Make of it what you will, the lad is one of Allardyces backroom staff, was at Bolton with Allardyce and has absolutley no reason to make this stuff up. After all its hardly shocking news but thought id share it.

I can’t see why Pearson would leave Smith out of his squad this afternoon. I hope he does but I just can’t se it happen that he will change the captain for 1 match.

BTW after the Redknapp news, perhaps Nigel is taking the club until the end of the season.

MA give the mob what they want and they will not blame you if it goes wrong.

Fat Freddy and Souness are blamed for our plight whereas many fans respect Roeder for his honesty but blame Freddy for his appointment.

The same would be with Hughes or Shearer (people would say too soon). If MA brings in Jose and he fails it will be Jose’s fault but MA will be respected for his ambition and decision to bring in the BEST availible man.

At worst we have to have a shot, whats to lose?

I think Mourinho never came in the thoughts of MA or never was contacted. Imagine this conversation:
CM: “So Harry we will hear from you ASAP if you want to take the job.”
HR: “Okay Chris,’ I’ll decide before the ManU game.”
CM: “Thanks Harry, the next one we will call is going to be Jose; you know Harry you are on top of the list, but in case we will try to get some 2nd thougt managers just like Jose .”
HR: “laughing out loud; Off course Chris, I understand you put him behind me. What has he proven? He won’t be able to produce stuff like I do at Pompey .”
    CM: “No, indeed. Bye Harry.”

I’m starting to question the football intelligence from MA and CM.

ok, look.mort has said we have contacted every, they must be people out of a contract or people who are about to leave a club as anything else would be tapping up and the media would be having a field day with names as they did with redknapp, truth is they havnt got a clue. so the list shortens, hughes has already ruled himself out, it wont be keegan so
and im not sure what lippi and hiddink situations are, but i believe it will be one of those.
and lets face it, last week against stoke we would of accepted any of them wouldnt we.
whoever it is ashley is said to be going to back them big time,so lets chill and await another rollercoaster ride

if it si true that Redknapp rejected us im f***g shitting myself-

one because we actually went for redknapp, why I dont know

and it shows that my earlier suspicion that we have already got a new manager and just riding the media frenzy till the start of the week..

it now looks sadly that were are gonna go for a British manager- which i think is fat gamble or JOL who i think is damaged by his end at spurs- his tactics, his man management was all questioned really- plus he has never one anything!

but hey what you gonna do…

i wish to god this is all a smoke screen- but all this redknapp revalation makes us look desparate and amatuer in my opinion c’mon Mr. Ashley don let me down

everyon going to the match scream for a European manager!!!!
