Deashamps is the first favorite that fits CM's criteria for the next newcastle manager -

1.To have the team playing with the right balance of winning football and stylish football

DD's teams have always played with attacking style - although its right to point out that as a player he was an enabler rather than a flair player

2.We would like a manager willing to develop the youth side of the club

DD has a proven record of this at monaco - the majority of his CL final team were developed over his time at the club

3.A manager that can speak English - Tick (although his accent may count against him with some of the more predudiced fans and media)

4.We have also seen over recent months the pressures placed on Newcastle United and its manager by some of the press and occasionally by some of the supporters - we need someone who is willing and able to handle that.

DD was taken to pieces by the french media as the captain of a team that refused to speak with them during the french world cup - he has also been lambasted as a peasent by the french parisian media - because he is basque and speaks with a strong accent - in fact the term water-carrier was a term of abuse from canatona - equivalent to david beckam calling alan shearer a flat-capped whipet fancier who only heads so many goals because hes got no brains. -
so DD can handle the pressure

Also being a basque it think will give him a great insight into the northeast - that has been snubbed for so long by the london media.

Absolutely yes, agree 100%!

Another thing I think is, that MORT and MA are surely aware of the fans desire to have shearer as manager on the tyne in the future. Truly I also think its to early now for him.

Well what I'm trying to say is, taht if DESCHAMPS would come in he would bring his own staff (propably ZOLA). But if HOULLIER comes in, there's a chance of having shearer beside him, becouse he might think to have the geordie legend beside him can only help him, right? And we fans would be just happy with that, no?

Anyway, in the end we as fans MUST stand by the decision and support the new manager. That's important for the future of our club! Let old times be history, let's move into future!

Yes you are right, but someone who can inspire players to win, is a good step as we DO have some quality players.

But i am sure some young manager like him MUST have an idea what to look out for and have alot of contacts. I reckon he could do it, must know alot of good Italian and French players and must have the contacts to sign them.

Ok, we are here to talk about it and maybe I'm wrong...my only fear is, that he always had already built teams (and in my opinion still very good teams, also when some players went away) and did not yet build one...mabe there's a bit of a lack of experience, what do you think?

we need solid transfers and not more like them in history. And is it really wrong to really look on all skills that are needed for the next manager? He must completely fit the bill and if its deschamps we must all support him!

Skysports? Have you not learned anything in the last week. Deschamps story started on Skysports at the same time they were saying press the button to go to Skybet and bet on it.

Daily Telegraph printed a story today to say its all nonsense and he's never been interviewed by Newcastle

Yet another Skybet betting scam.

Elfer.....are you a joke? You obviously know f**k all about football! Decschamps took Monoco to a Champions league final where they were beaten by Porto - he's only 39 yrs old, so what he's done in 3 years is amazing! Monoco also played some great football on the way to the final.

You then go on to show more ignorance - Juve lost lots of their best players who did not want to drop down to Serie B. He left Juve because the chairman was buying some players he didn't want - unlike Souness he wouldn't work under such conditions and resigned. The fans (get on their web site) were very disappointed when he left.

Gents, I have a serious question: How the hell would DECHAMPS fit any of the points on Morts list?? I think he has proven, that he's not a good manager and experience is lacking...and by the way his only record is to bring back juventus (full of stars!!) into serie A...this is a joke, right?

Otherwise I would again question why BS was sacked, becouse there's no bright future with such a low quality manager who simply doesn't fit the bill!

If they had bring in HOULLIER all would make sense!! But now as it seems that there's little chance of that I'm very disappointed...
