Dunne Turns Down Manchester City Offer

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Richard Dunne, the Manchester City captain and dominant center-back, has turned down a contract offer from Manchester City.

Richard Dunne – reports suggest he turned down Manchester City offer

Sven Goran Eriksson, the Manchester City manager was said to be confident his skipper would commit his future to the club when negotiations began last month. But Dunne seems unhappy with the offer and talks between his advisers and the club have said to have broken down.

The Republic of Ireland international has nearly 300 appearances in seven years with Manchester City, and has been a great servant of the club. Richard is said to be demanding top terms in the negotiations over the contract. Certainly he must be one – if not the best, center-back right now in the Premier League. He’s put in some sterling performances over the last couple of years for City.

Newcastle United considered moving for Richard in the summer. We’re not sure what Manchester City are offering Richard, but he’d be worth a lot of money to Newcastle United. We need a dominant center-back and Richard would fit the bill – perfectly.

What do you think?

Ed – I wouldnt go as far as saying he’s the best centre back in the Prem, crikey! He’s perhaps one of the better ones, but what about Terry, Ferdinand, Vidic…Bramble! lol

Black and White Blood: Caught offside is the laughing stock of football journalism (I use the term lightly in their case). They also quote Louise Taylor a journalist who has spent a career loathing us, mainly because she’s a mackem.

RE: Richard Dunne. Good centre half, however no point in speculation until we get a new manager. He has played hardball over negotiations with City for the last few years. I actually don’t think him moving is actually a runner.

Dunne turns down City offer so his Agent can generate interest from other clubs during the Jan transfer window, and push his client’s price up, getting Dunne a bigger deal at City by the end of the month

Since when was supporting all about what others think of you and not about the love for the club?
Couldn’t care less about a – for me atleast – totally unknown blogg.

Dunne for all I know sings praise about Sven-Göran’s manegerial skills. He’s going on 29 and want’s a few more coin out of city before getting the obligatory “nufc-pension” at 30+ 😉

So in a few years maybe.

I do not appreciate being called a liar. Fans like you can only dream about the amount of access I have. I try my best to keep the supporters informed and I only succeed in being ridiculed. You probably dont beleive that I actually read websites and forums to get a feel for the fans and their thoughts. I am indeed a fan myself and I am privledged to be able to have access to good sources.

Can’t see that the Dunne situation is of any interest to us, I doubt very much that we are going to sign him.

Total waste of web space in my opinion Ed.

Charges on Barton certainly have not been dropped.

He is on court bail and will re-appear in March. This would not be the case if any charges had been dropped.

Dunne is an amazing defender, a really good player. At Ireland he, well he should be captain, everyone says it should be him or Given, mainly Given, but for then non fans of keeper captains then Dunne is a shoe in, instead of Keane, he can find form all right when it’s with Spurs.

No seriously it’s either Dunne or Given who win the MOTM award, it’s nearly always one of them. Dunne is about the ONLY defender that Given trusts, COMPLETLEY. Most of the other Irish backs are too inexperienced still, and don’t even start me on the Newcastle defenders. Given and Dunne are an amazing team. Two of them together at Newcastle would do wonders for the defense. Beyond what ye think. Ye’d have to see them play together to see it.

ATM he’s better then Terry, but he’s injured. Ferdinand and Vidic are the best pairing, though both on their own are good. I actually think that Dunne is ATM the best.

He’s a really good organizer and a really good leader. City would be crazy to let him go. If they did though, Newcastle would be even worse to let him slip by. In fairness he’s really good, I don’t see him coming here. Pity though.

Dunne has No intention of leaving City.
He is just asking and rightly so if he is worth near the fifty grand currently on offer to Micah.
He will be offered a better deal tomorrow, he and Richards will commit and continue at the heart of defence as one of the best pairings in the premiership.
As for Newcastle yes he would be perfect for themso would Micah, but to be honest you have been crying out for a quality centre half since you let Sylvan leave.
All good teams build from the back and create a good spine. I wish Newcastle well and have allways had an affection for them as so to do many City fans. Hope you get things sorted soon

First the manager and then some players might be interested in playing for us. If you were a player would you go to a club without a manager?? Especially if that club is known as a hard place to work…

Would be nice tho’, but I think there are much better players than him.
