Keeegan New Manager For Second Coming

News on the Newcastle United web site is announcing the new Newcastle United manager – King Kev himself – it’s Kevin Keegan.

Kevin Keegan – returns to his football home – Newcastle United

There’s really nothing more we know right now – but it’s good Newcastle got the word out. Mike Ashley has made the choice most Newcastle fans craved – the return of King Kev.

This is official news – because it’s on the official Newcastle Web Site – saying more news to follow.

But Kevin Keegan didn’t care about youngsters – and even stopped the Newcastle Reserves side – which is why we lost so many good youngsters like Michael Carrick, so not sure how Kevin ticks all the boxes that Chairman Chris Mort laid out yesterday.

The 56-year-old former Manchester City manager was Newcastle manager in his first ever appointment from 1992 to 1997, and will return to St James’ Park as Sam Allardyce’s successor.

Gerard Houllier and Didier Deschamps were strongly linked with the position in the last couple of days but the club unexpectedly turned to Keegan. maybe after all the support shown in the polls – he was our second favorite to Jose Mourinho with 20% of the vote compared to Jose’s 40%.

Kevin was initially linked only with a partnership role with Alan Shearer and he’s been running his “Soccer Circus” in Glasgow since leaving Manchester City in March 2005.

But he returns to Newcastle, having said on Monday:

“I’m not ruling myself out or in. It’s a club I love, everyone knows that.”

Keegan took Newcastle to promotion back to the top flight in 1993 and came close to winning the league title in the 1995-96 season when we led Manchester United by 12 points before finishing in second place.

Hey – maybe his first signing can be Richard Dunne, his former center-back at Manchester City.

Comments very welcome.

Well I guess every fan in the country is happy except for me – He will resign once the pressure gets too much just like he did with Newcastle before and Fulham and England and Man City… Anyone notice a pattern?

Yes. My first choice! Get Shearer in as no. 2 now.
Forget the quit thing. He’s older and wiser and will get us back where we belong.
Wish I was at SJP tonight. It’ll be electric even with him probably not there.

Ed , what a ignorant thing to come out with without saying why you would think he would scrap the reserve’s and youth teams in a recently floated company

opinions are like assholes , everybody has one !

he has been out of touch , so i have every right to be skeptical !

neways its good to see the players would be lifted and alan ( if appointed number 2 ) would make sure no more under-performance

I’m not sure of this. I know he did a fantastic job in the 90’s but will he be able to repeat that. I really have my thoughts, I don’t know what to expect from this.

He is been out of the football for 2 years and i don’t know if he will be able to attract quality payers for us.

Good luck King Kev and bring back the glory to the Toon!!!

    Ed, what utter bollocks.
What do you mean he didn’r care about the youngsters. You can’t just throw a meaningless barb like that out without explaining the facts. Plenty of people on here would be too young to remember and take your half-arsed comments as gospel.

    what a fricking JOKE.

Mike Ashley you are single handedly taking our club down to a new low.

Do you really think Kevin Keegan can entice the worlds biggest players to Newcastle? do you think Kevin Keegan even has contacts to the worlds biggest players? DO YOU EVEN THINK THE WORLDS GREATEST PLAYERS KNOW WHO KEEGAN IS??!?!?

I dont see how Keegan is a better manager than Sam Allerdyce.

i will support Keegan as he is a legend, but Ashley & Mort are just making a complete mockery out of our team.
