Kevin Keegan was in charge the first time around for 251 games and he won 138 of those games for a 55% winning average.
Kevin Keegan – the second coming
Here is the complete Kevin Keegan management record at the club. Once the excitement of Kevin Keegan’s second appointment at Newcastle United wears off (in a few years…) we have to remember it’s never as easy the second time around.
Here’s Kevin’s management career record.
Team From To G W L D Win% Newcastle Feb5-92 Jan8-97 251 138 62 51 55.0 Fulham May7-98 May9-99 61 38 11 12 62.4 England Feb-99 Oct-00 18 7 7 4 39.0 Man City May24-01 Mar11-05 176 77 60 39 43.9 Newcastle Jan16-08 ? 0 0 0 0 ?
Bobby Moncur was interviewed tonight on Sky Sports and Bobby has said he’s delighted with the appointment but it’s going to be a difficult and stressful job for Kevin.
But he’ll get all the support in the world form the Newcastle faithful around the world. And we would also expect this is a great way to put Newcastle United back on the football map around the world. That is a stated goal of both Mike Ashley and Chris Mort.
Kevin will lots of support from Chris Mort and the board to build the structure of the club including the youngsters. That’s a part of the game Kevin ignored the last time but things have changed enormously since 1992, when Kevin was first appointed.
But Keegan’s charisma and massive presence at Newcastle will do a lot to transforming the club this season.
In short we have 3 words about Kevin’s appointment today.
We cannot wait. 😀
Comments welcome.

Comment #4Well, now we can move forward. Beat Stoke (for the psychology of it) and then beat Bolton on Sat (for the points that we desperately need). Onwards and Upwards.
Howay the Lads, howay KK!

Comment #5They talk about his ‘rant’ and how it was embaressing, give me a break. We have coaches and managers in the US do stuff like that and go off frequently. So what if passion gets into his speeches to the media. That’s great and frankly it wasn’t embaressing at all to me. Isn’t that better than some stupid manager – McLaren -trying to sway the media but he’s just ignorant or a sir Alex F being a complete prick to everyone – I think so. I just hate Sir Alex F – he’s an asshole- just thought I’d throw that out there.

Comment #6I’ve got my fingers crossed so tight that he does well! I was for Sam being sacked, and there are better managers out there, no doubt, but I’m 110% behind Keegan now.
Will be interesting to see who the Number 2 is….I thought Shearer, but Coleman has just resigned from Real Sociedad so he could be on his way!
COME ON TH TOON!!
Mort has said that Keegan will be at the match with him tonight, so I reckon they would be daft not to get him on the pitch for an official unveiling! I bet the friggin roof comes off!!!!!!
