When Newcastle United fans heard the news that Kevin Keegan has come back to the club, Newcastle fans are flocking to St. James’ Park in their cars, blowing their horns in a dramatic display of support for King Kev, from the great Geordie Faithful.
Newcastle fans wild over Kevin
But it’s 3 years since Kevin ended his not so successful job at Manchester City, and almost 16 years since Newcastle first appointed Kevin as their new manager.
So Kevin will not find it too easy this time, but it’s got to be good news for the training staff at Newcastle, because he will probably be persuaded to keep a lot of the training staff. Certainly Terry McDermott, who worked hand in hand with Kevin during the great years, will be ecstatic.
This may not be good news for Michael Owen, since when Kevin managed the English team he was critical of Michael, because he was so poor with his left foot. We’re not sure whether that apparent rift has been healed over time.
Kevin is almost certain to be at the Stoke City game tonight, as will Mike Ashley, who will no doubt be sitting alongside Kevin. It’s a real pity the game is not being televised since it would be good to see the impact Kevin’s second coming at Newcastle. While Kevin is not in charge tonight, don’t be surprised if Kevin goes into the dressing room to calm the players before the game and says some wise words to get them concentrating on the difficult task ahead.
But it will be hard for Kevin to recreate what he dis way over 10 years ago – it will not be easy. But if anybody can do it – it’s Kevin Keegan. But we cannot afford to keep our weak defense and look for some defensive reinforcements coming in before the end of the month – but also one or two attacking players with flair.
If fans were undecided on Mike Ashley – not now – because Mike has listened to the Toon Army, and done what they have all prayed for over the last 10 years. Â 😀
There’s also no doubt that when Kevin leaves – Alan Shearer’s reign at the club will start.
Comments welcome.

Comment #12I hope to God that the Youth System that Mort was talking about… we didn’t even have a reserve team last time around!
As for Keegan himself… at least we’re gonna get passion and commitment !!!!
I hope that King Kev doesn’t ruin his Toon legacy.

Comment #13“He will be gone by the end of this season, if that isnt the original intention!!!”
good call, i didnt think of that… will be interesting to find 0ut if its a 4 year contract or if its rolling or what.
and as to the guy who said get behind the toon or become a mackem, im 100% behind keegan and and the toon, but that doesnt mean im happy we have appointed someone who confesses they havent watched a football game in 3 years, someone who hasnt even been involved in football for 3 years, when managers like Jose Mourinho, Ottmar Hitzfeld & Gerrard Houlier are AVAILABLE and have all been involved in football for the past 15 YEARS almost non-stop.
remind me, how many jobs has Keegan been sacked from?

Comment #15dear me – theres a right old bunch of whingers on this blog – man why dont you live the dream for a bit
I feel better today than I’ve felt since SBR was in charge
@Rich – Keegan hasn’t been sacked, he walked away from Toon, Man City and England jobs – unlike Sam & Souness who hung around for a payoff, Gullitt got my respect by resigning and not taking a payoff – at least it shows they have some dignity!

Comment #27There was only going to be two men to lift the spirit of the Toon. Even Mourinho wouldnt have got such a response. MA has brought back what the fans want.
MA is behind him Fat Fred has gone. We have a new club,a new start, a future.
We will look forward again to Saturdays, we will bring the noise back. It couldn’t be better.
