With all the excitement and passion that will be at St. James’ Park before tonight’s game against Stoke City you would think that passion would spill over to the players.
Kevin Keegan – should inspire players tonight just by his presence
The game tonight against Stoke City has been delayed by 15 minutes probably to give Mike Ashley and Chris Mort a chance to introduce Kevin Keegan in the center circle and you can bet Sky Sports will be there in droves as it’s been all over their news since the announcement was made.
The players, who don’t really know about the history or passion of the club will get a real introduction to that tonight. And we would expect a few of them to be really inspired by Newcastle new management appointment.
Stephen Taylor was a wide-eyed ball boy during the Keegan years and he may look around 7 foot tall tonight, as he tries to take in the fabulous news that Keegan is coming back to the club.
But if the presence of Keegan can’t inspire some of our players to produce tonight, then maybe nothing can – and they may find themsleves being moved out, sooner rather than later.
We cannot believe Kevin will have too much use for the likes of Carr, Cacapa, Geremi and even our captain Alan Smith, unless he starts to play Alan up front which is by far his best position, but not in midfield.
Also, young Ben Tozer, our new 17 year-old signing from Swindon is probably pinching himself to see whether this has all been a dream for him over the last 10 days. He was already talking about how great the fans and club are – to the newspapers back in Swindon – and the boy’s seen nothing yet.   😀
We need a win tonight more than ever – and we expect the players to run themselves into the ground to give that to the ever faithful fans of our great Newcastle United Football Club.
Comments very welcome.

Comment #6i think 3-1 to newcastle. i think we will go 0-1 down for some reason but cant see us losing to stoke at home. a goal would be nice- only one in the last five games!!! can u imagine the scenes at ashburton grove if we play arsenal in the 4th round. hopefully two teams playing sweeping and majestic football of the attacking nature. i will look forward to that game if we beat stoke which i am sure we will!!! COME ON THE TOON!!!

Comment #7Im hoping Owen gets a couple of goals he is worrying me lately.
But it was the long ball game that killed his game, he needs balls into feet.

Comment #9I think it is stonkin news, it will galvanise the support not sure about the duffers who play for us though 🙁
However, if Kev decides they aren’t good enough there is no doubt that Ashley will give him the funds to bring in his own men.

i know pessimism isn’t welcome at a time like this but wheres the forward thinking and what sort of infrastructure and backroom staff we gonna see? reserve teams were non existant, let alone youth teams back in 96. also, footballs changed, alot. i like the sound of coleman as a defensive coach.
i’m delighted though because it means he will identify good attacking players for ashley to use his millions to buy! great!
finally good times may be ahead!

Comment #25Don’t listen to the crap, Keegan is a top bloke, was a top footballer and a welcome boost to a huge club, i think he’s gonna rock the division next season!
I’m no Newcastle fan, infact im a Baggies fan hoping to see top flight again next season and to see an exciting game against the geordies which will only come from this man.
The mans a legend and i for one wish you all the success he may hopefully bring to Toonland !!
