Kevin Keegan has completed his first capture as Newcastle manager this afternoon, when Hungarian Tamas Kadar signed for the club as Newcastle finally completed all the paper work.

Kevin Keegan - pleased to sign Kadar - with the work completed by Mort
Of course Chris Mort and his staff did the work to bring the youngster to Tyneside. It looks like he’s a great signing for the club.
The 17-year-old, who impressed at Newcastle during a recent trial in December, has signed a four-and-half year contract at the club
Newcastle paid Zalaegerszegi £900K for Kadar - making him the most expensive defender in Hungarian football history.
Kadar told Zalaegerszegi’s official website today:
“My dream has come true, that I have signed to play for a club from the Premiership,”
“My goal is, of course, to fight and grab a place in the first team as soon as possible.”
Kadar says he is shocked at the progress he has made in the last couple of years, and continued:
“When I was 14 I wasn’t a contracted footballer, I played only for fun and I wanted to become a handballer as I’m from Veszprem” (The town has a well-known European class handball team).
“I’m happy to get this contract, but I don’t want to be satisfied only with this. I’m studying English very hard and I want to become a good and successful player,”
Kadar’s club Zalaegerszeg were not too interested in letting him go at first, after he made his debut for their first team last year. But Newcastle have played fair with the Hungarian club, and paid an adequate fee for the promising young Hungarian. We think Tamas is probably the most likely of our young recruits to go straight into the first team squad and compete for a first team place.
He’s that good, and certainly the reports about the youngster bears that out. We think he’s another excellent young player we have secured for the club’s future.
Kadar is now the third teenager to join Newcastle United’s ranks this month, following the signings of Le Havre 18 year-old striker Wesley Ngo Baheng and Swindon Town’s 17 year-old defender Ben Tozer. This is a policy started by Chairman Chris Mort, which he emphatically said would continue at the club, earlier in the week. We think it’s great policy for our long term success.
Comments welcome.

Anyways on other news….KK made Owen captain!!
6 Leo* // Jan 18, 2008 at 22:50
does kadar play cb or can he also play right back, i remember him saying something along the lines that he would not play for bolton because they would play him at full back…
if he doesnt then we need a young right back and a right winger to push milner some more
7 Leo* // Jan 18, 2008 at 22:51

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=509162&in_page_id=1779&ct=5
….. but i guess it’s true. It great by KK to show Owen that he holds no grudge and also show to the press that they get along just fine. very good choice imo.

Thats a fkin disgrace to make owen captain, that boils my piss. I cant put in to words how pissed off i am if that is true.
Zarate is a very very good prospect.
11 Leo* // Jan 18, 2008 at 22:58
it might be seen as an act of merely showing this… maybe a bit fake, hope it isnt…
12 ObaFan2 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:06
FGS don’t whine about Owen as captain. If that’s what KK wants then thats fine with us? Am I not right?
13 ObaFan2 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:06
I thought Kadar is a left back?
14 Duncan Disorderly // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:07
Very astute move. Let’s hope Owen can lead from the front and not from the treatment table!
15 Tez131 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:07
@LEO*
He can also play LB from what I hear but his favoured position is CB.
Taylor & Kadar future CBs …..
16 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:08
No hes a CB who can play LB.
Im entitled to whine, i refuse to believe a word of it, its a disgrace!
17 Hammy // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:08
Owen is going to be like shit off a shovel under Keegan, he’ll get loads of chances to put away….
I’m looking forward to Zog getting player of the year…..

Argentinians don’t always do to well in EPL but depends on how much coke (bottle of) they have
19 ObaFan2 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:10

20 Leo* // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:11
dont get me wrong, i am not against it, and i wont let it lower my high regard for keegan, just think the papers may see it this way
21 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:11
I aint gonna boo, becuase it isnt true.
The notion is a disgrace though.
22 Duncan Disorderly // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:11
What’s going to be fascinating is to see who KK rates on the transfer market. Trying to think … Who was his first signing last time?? - was it ‘Big’ KK? (Kevin Kilcline)
23 geordiejayne13 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:12
If making owen captain gives him confidence in Keegan and gets him scoring I’m not bothered.
Great Keegan is here.
Just a bit worried about the number of players Keegan has to select from tomorrow
24 ToonKing // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:14
Kadar is a really great prospect……and since i’m Hungarian too ..it’s double fun!!
+he’s the first ever Hungarian to play at Newcastle too……..or am i wrong ??? i think there was a guy back in the ages…Imre Something, but he was born in England from Hungarian parents…i may be wrong though.
25 Ashton // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:16
Lol , zarate is shite he was crap in shiti arab league imo that explain a lot !
oh and he is fat ” overweight ”
milner is far better than him
26 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:18
Why compare Milner a winger to Zarate, a striker.
He moved to Qatar because he is getting 5 mil a year there, which will be going to his family.
A very very very good porspect indeed, crazy though, his temper aint too good.
27 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:22
Zarate got offers from some of europe’s great clubs but he went to Qatar for the money so that his family has financial stability so then he can focus on playing football for achievements not money.
28 ObaFan2 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:24
Zarate will be one to watch at Birmingham then, wonder if he’ll be a good purchase !
29 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:27
He’ll be good towards the end of his spell if he gets played regularly, i dont expect him to hit it off straight away.
30 ObaFan2 // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:33
He’s only 20? but apparantly he’d signed a pre agreement? Well good for him sticking to his word.

34 Wynn the Leap // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:45
They beat England 5-3 at Wembley and got the nickname the Magnificant Magyars. Can’t remember the date, but I think Ferenc Puskas was playing.
35 Kelvin Koogan // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:49
They pretty much invented the modern game didn’t they.
36 Wynn the Leap // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:54
The Hungarians wore ‘continental’ boots with soft toe ends. Ulike ours that curled up like Aladin’s slippers after a couple of games in the rain.
37 Tom_Toon // Jan 18, 2008 at 23:56
My team (Portugal) are the best now so it doesnt matter
We will win euro 2008.
