Rozehnal Happy and Sol May Be Coming

Our Czech 6’3” defender David Rozehnal seems happy that Kevin Keegan has taken over at Newcastle, and there are some growing rumors in the South, that Sol Campbell may be on his way to Tyneside.

David Rozehnal – Keegan already given squad confidence

We already have many many central defenders abut apart form Taylor and Faye not too many more have impressed this season although Cacapa keeps looking the part sometimes.

Rozehnal feels the performance against Bolton was full of positives and David did OK in the central midfield role, especially in the second half when he started to spray the ball about.

David told the Evening Chronicle today:

“We have a chance of some glory still,” The new manager has given us a lot of confidence and we have some dreams again.”

“He is a friendly guy and has the same attitude as a player. “We are hoping to work hard and we want to play football, football and more football – that will help us.”

Reflecting on the chance he missed in the second half Rozehnal said:

“It was a great cross but I was a little bit ahead of the ball.” “Had I touched it a different way it would have been a lot more dangerous.”

“Maybe if I played in midfield more often I would have more confidence in that situation.”

Jlloyd Samuel forced Shay Given into a fine save with his left foot on the 90 minute and but for that we wouldn’t have looked that good if Bolton had snatched the game then.

Rozehnal continued:

“Shay made a great save.” “Had they scored right at the end I would have been really disappointed.”“We were better than them.”

“It was better chance than we had, but it’s great that we had Shay there to make those saves.”

Still on the center half front there are growing rumors in the South that Portsmouth’s Sol Campbell may want to join Newcastle United. His girlfriend is a Geordie, and certainly Campbell could do a good job on Tyneside for Keegan for at least a couple of years, and help steady our defense.

Portsmouth insist Sol Campbell missed Saturday’s game with Derby due to injury, but was then apparently he was seen out shopping in nearby Winchester. Campbell would love one last fling at Newcastle and keeps saying that he doubts Portsmouth’s ambitions.

Nobody doubts Newcastle United’s ambitions under Ashley, Mort and Kevin Keegan – that’s for sure.

Of course Newcastle should have got Sol on a free transfer 18 months ago, when Portsmouth stepped in, but Roeder at the time thought his best years were behind him, and he wanted somebody younger.

We have no idea if the Campbell rumors – first brought out by the Times today are true, but we hope they are. 😀

Comments and opinions always welcome.

Sorry Ed I think we could do better, someone a little younger. Sol had a good two seasons at pomppy, but his legs arn’t what they were and he is still prone to the odd Bramble!!!

I hope the rumors about Sol are true. It would be great for Taylor to play with one of the best defenders in England.

I also think Roz looked way more confident in the midfield. Much better than Smith and more dangerous than Nicky.

Speaking of Newcastle defenders, Titus Shambles strikes again. What a Howler. He truly has concentration issues. You almost start to feel sorry for him.

There are very few centre backs I would want to sign this window, but Sol is one of them. Actually, I can’t think of another one. I want the guys to have a chance to play & grow under Keegan.

who thinks this would be a good team and where could it finish?
    given
    beye van buyton cambbell enrique
    milner deco arshavin nzog
    podolski
    owen/martins
i think we have a good chance of buying all these players, van buyton is said to be intrested in newcastle and arshavin, cambbell wouldnt take much money or effort, podolski is going on loan to a premiership team this season and will leave bayern next season, what you guys think?

I would much rather MR from Man City or Woodgate even, a little bit more in the lags – Know doubt Sol is a quality defender but…

e – Looks like a good attacking team to me but would need a good defensive midfielder in there to battle it out with the big boys

e, you’ve put 4 non epl players in ur team so it isn’t gonna happen this season!

Roz, we’re all happy KK here 😀

Sol would be a good signing, maybe lost his pace but he has a good football brain and would help our defence no end with his experience.

is he Carvalho? no….but hes a CB with a PROVEN PREMIER LEAGUE record. is he young? no. CB is one place I dont mind having an older experienced player holding back and showing some of the younger (and new to Prem) talent how it goes. Is he the fastest? no…but hes not Ben Haim or Hyppia slow yet, and they have both been on the radar. Also…those comparing Sol to Bramble automatically disqualify thier comments by saying something so stupid. Anyone see Bramble’s gaff this weekend at home to Everton on thier first goal? worse than Shocking. Sol would never be thaat bad.

Keep Oba – Sorry for having an opinion, I mean it’s obvious you’re right, you know everything. .! Before he joined Pommpy everyone was on his back calling for him to be dropped from the England side [which he was]. No one is doubting his quality, but I AM disputing whether we could go for a better option – But sorry for any such opinion, I just agree with you, what’s the point of any debate.

sol would be a great signing just what we need to sit beside Taylor and teach him perfect signing cant see arry letting him go though i think we should also sign a central midfileder is a must nad also a winger as i think martins and owen can play together up front and we also have smith and viduka in that department so i dont think there is need for a striker as the midfield and defence is more important at this time

hahaha just heard and interesting fact by the commentators. Do you know what Obafemi means ????
it means “The King loves me” LOL how fitting.

anyways a pretty boring game so far, it’s like Big Sam is the coach of both teams.

I put a little money on a Nigeria anyways cause they at least had a few shoots on goal and the Ivory Coast keeper is a complete amateur, wouldn’t make it even in the Conference.
