Another player that is said to be interesting Newcastle United is Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, according to the Sun today.
Luka Modric – central midfield playmaker or left winger
The 22 year-old Zadar, Croatian born playmaker is said to be in the £15M transfer bracket by his club Dinamo Zagreb.
All these players Newcastle are being linked with in January, are not all targets for this month, but we can get a good idea of some of the players Keegan and his staff have identified as potential new recruits in the summer.
It’s far better to start working on the transfers of these players now, and in the next few months, rather than wait until the end of the season before anything is done.
But Modric looks a particularly good player, and he is also young, so can also certainly improve in the future. He can play central midfield or out wide on the left.
He has appeared 84 times for Dinamo Zagreb since 2005, and scored 22 goals. Luka has represented his country Croatia 22 times since 2005, and scored 3 goals.
He stand just under 5’9†tall, and has previously played for Croatian club, Inter ZapreÅ¡ić and Bosnian club Zrinjski Mostar.
What do you think?

Comment #3he is a great prospect although unlikey and if we were to sign it would have to be now as in the summer the whole of europe would be after him. Chelsea and Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barca have all been linked.
however enjoying the age of the players that we are being linked with – players with potential rather than players at the end of their career looking for one last big pay cheque

Comment #5Its just paper talk. I would hope Keegan and Mort are a bit more realistic instead of wasting their time on players like these. Having said that he’d be a class purchase. I think he signed a new contract only last month anyway.
Keegan=God.

Modric would be awesome but it is ridiculous for you to post all the rumours.
nufc.com have a list of all the rumours each month. If you add in todays we have been linked with over 40 different players this month.
Sports journalism in this country is a joke. And I hate to say it, but some of the london papers make Alan Oliver look like a factual writer.
Can you please do one article each day on our transfer links for the day. Your page is awesome to come for a roundup of all the gossip etc, but putting up a new article each time is getting beyond a joke.

Comment #19money shouldnt be an object
we all want players who will be passionate about playin for newcastle but in reality no top class players will, they’l want chelsea, man u, man c even, arsenal n the likes, we need to get some money grabbers in my opinion while we have the money at our disposal.
then when our team becomes more succesful with the money grabbers people will actually want to come!

KK will make newcastle an exciting and desierable club again, but right now thats not what we are.
when teams like chelski and barca are involved, i think we can all quite clearly say we’re not getting the better of either of them.

Comment #33Seems optimistic! though, we do need some attacking talent in the centre of midfield. Butt has been great, but it’s driving me mad watching him take 5 or 6 long shots a match. It seems that every ball that breaks to the edge of the box is collected by Butt and roundly knocked out of play!
