Kevin Keegan thinks he has a great player in the making in local boy Steven Taylor, and has thought that Taylor would be a top player for a long time now.
Steven Taylor – great future for youngster
Steven still doesn’t have his contract situation worked out, which is a little mysterious and worrying.
Kevin was asked by the Evening Chronicle today, if he had had time to look at Taylor’s contract situation:
“Anything like that won’t even be considered by myself for a while.” “That’s no disrespect to any players who have got contract problems, as I don’t know who they are.”
“I’ve got other priorities but I am sure we can sort it out.†“I like Steven Taylor – I think he’s got leadership qualities in the making.”
“There’s not a lot of experience at the back, apart from Shay Given. On the right Steven has got Stephen Carr, but on the other side he’s got players who are still learning to play in the Premier League.”
“Against Bolton, Taylor had a player in front of him who is still also learning the Premier League in David Rozehnal.”
“But I thought Taylor was tremendous on Saturday, and I’ve been very impressed with him every time I’ve seen him play for a long time now.â€
We’d be a lot happier if the club would get Steven signed up on a new 5 year contract. If the club thought Steven wasn’t worth as much as James Milner or Charles N’Zogbia in compensation, Steven has been playing very well these last couple of months.
Let’s get Steven Taylor signed at the club on a long term contract, and the sooner we do that the better.

Comment #1I wouldn’t go as far as to say that, however he was my man of the match..! I agree though, we need him signed up on a 5 year deal asap, before the likes of Man Utd come and get him!!!
