Pascal Chimbonda Interesting Newcastle United

Another player who can be added to the list of those Newcastle United are pursuing in January, is Tottenham’s right back Pascal Chimbonda.

Pascal Chimbonda – French International on Newcastle’s list

Right back Chimbonda has already said this month that he may have to leave the North London club soon, to get first team football:

“My future will be somewhere other than Tottenham after the club’s transfer activities this month”

Spurs have already signed right full-back Chris Gunter from Cardiff, and continue to show interest in Ranger’s Alan Hutton.

Kevin Keegan and Chris Mort, Newcastle’s chairman, are said to be working through a long list of targets and have identified Pascal Chimbonda as another potential signing in January.

Pascal was an unused member of the French squad at the last World Cup in Germany, and feels he has done what has been asked of him this season. He has even filled in at center-back under Juande Ramos, when selection crises have arisen.

But Ramos doesn’t seem to be a fan of the Frenchman, and thinks he has fallen short generally of the required standards, and is now ready to replace him. Chimbonda however, had an excellent game against Arsenal earlier this week, and that would have done his transfer possibilities no harm at all. Aston Villa are also said to be interested.

If Pascal is brought to Newcastle, he would have to fight it out with Habib Beye for the right-back position.

The 28 year old has played 54 times for Tottenham scoring 3 goals, and from 2005-2006 played 38 times for Wigan Athletic scoring 2 goals. From 19999-2003 Pascal, who is 5’11” tall, played 85 times for Le Havre (5 goals), before moving to Bastia where he played a total of 67 times and scored 4 goals.

Pascal, who was born in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe has played once for France in 2006.

Ramos doesn’t like him because when he asked him to play in the centre as cover, he refused saying he would only play as right back.

Remember Dyer doing the same for Bobby Robson?

he would have to get used to playing second fiddle to habib beye. beye is a better right back. I dont like chimpbonda for slapping nicky butt last year, plus he has a shit name.

No need to sign Chimbonda, he has no morals at all, handing in a transfer request from his sock after the last game of the season when at Wigan.

Plus, Beye is looking the best of Allardyce’s buys, along with Faye, we need strength in other areas than right back, as numpty Carr can even fill in for Beye.

why???!!! pointless. habib is doing well. carr can easily deputise. this position not a priority atm.
Someone to teach milner how to cross a ball is more important than anything.

Pandev, Woodgate and Modric (unlikely – but when they are young and being courted by big teams they usually move to a team in a better league that guarentees first team football – so they can develop – so who knows) – Thats would be fookin immense.

    No Riise please, hes shite.

Don’t want Chimbonda unless he’s willing to warm the bench. Beye has been brilliant at right back this season.

He doesnt have a good attitude, remember when he left Wigan? He handed in his transfer request on the pitch to Paul Jewell after their Arsenal game and they just secured promotion…

na, wait until summer for this position (RB)…we have time there…no hurry!

You can fill that position in summer by HUTTON 🙂

for now we need a LB/CB and maybe a RW

The players we are being linked with are not really turning me on and I certainly wouldnot take a gamble on woodgate.
Ashley has just made 131 million off the sport brand wilson..lets see some spending soon.
My gut feeling will be some bargain basement crap..some spl crap..some euro players nobody has heard of..etc
The investment in players so far since he took over has been nowhere near as what fat fred was splashing out.
Don’t get me wrong though I hate him and wouldn’t want him back : )

    blahhh Chimbonda…….pfff no way

As for Modric…..Barcelona were talking to him recently and even offered him a honorary kit with the number 14, Cruyff’s former number, cause they look so alike.

I think it’s safe to say we can forget him…….. 🙁

PS: Cardozo is a very good player.

We dont want Chimbonda – he’s a gutless cheating prick who can’t even hit somebody properly. Mind you if he did come Joey Barton could teach him a thing or 2 about that…
