Arsenal vs Newcastle Teams – Smith, Butt Start

arsenal-fc-crest.png nufc-crest.png

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has Nicky Butt and Alan Smith back from suspension, and both start today in the Newcastle team against Arsenal in the FA Cup 4th round tie.

As expected, Smith will partner Michael Owen up front, and Butt replaces David Rozehnal in defensive midfield.

Emre is still missing as he serves the second game of his three-match ban.

Shola Ameobi is not involved this week, which allows Andy Carroll, who scored a hat-trick for Newcastle Reserves on Tuesday night, to be named among the substitutes. David Rozehnal also drops down to the bench.

Arsenal field a strong side with Fabregas, Gallas, Flamini and Adebayor all starting the game.

TEAMS

Arsenal: Manuel Almunia, Abou Diaby, Cesc Fabregas, Philippe Senderos, Tomas Rosicky, William Gallas (c), Msthieu Flamini, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor, Justin Hoyte, Theo Walcott
Subs: Eduardo, Alexander Hleb, Gilberto, Lukasz Fabianski, Nicklas Bendtner

Newcastle United: Shay Given, Stephen Carr, Jose Enrique, Claudio Cacapa, Steven Taylor, Nicky Butt, Charles N’Zogbia, James Milner, Damien Duff, Michael Owen (c), Alan Smith
Subs: Steve Harper, David Rozehnal, Kazenga LuaLua, David Edgar, Andy Carroll

I think I would rather see Duff at RB (memories of Nobby) and Lua Lua starting in midfield. I can see Carr getting a right old roasting by the Arsenal forwards. Obviously I hope I am wrong and will be more than happy to eat my words.

Playing really well so far. Getting a lot of joy down the wings and both Duff and Milner look much sharper and more direct.
