Keegan Likes the Look of N’Zogbia

Kevin Keegan has been somewhat impressed by some of the players he has inherited at the club since he joined a short 10 days ago.

Chalres N’Zogbia – playing central midfield for Keegan the last two games

Kevin talked to day about Charles N’Zogbia, one of our bright youngsters who is still only 21 years old, and could improve dramatically under the tutelage of Kevin at Newcastle.

Kevin said after the game last night:

“I like Charles very much – he’s a player who never stops trying to do things” “He’s a player the opposition don’t want to play against as he challenges you, comes at you and tries to take you on”

“You’ve got to have players who can pass the ball well, but if you haven’t got players who can go past an opponent and open teams you, then you’ve got a problem.”

“I think we have got those players in N’Zogbia, Damien Duff and James Milner. Those three, and Emre when he’s not suspended, can open things up.”

There’s no doubt that Charles is a skillful and very good player in the making, and he will only get better. But he still has a lot to learn and with his ability to play in several positions it’s still not clear which is his best position, between left back, left wing and central midfield (notice we didn’t mention right wing which is where Sam sometimes played him).

He still needs to learn when the right time is to release the ball, because sometimes he tends to overdo it a bit, but that skill will come as he plays more and more games. Certainly, he’s hardly missed a game this season, and has played very well for the team in various positions.

And as we said this boy will only get better as he grows older and more mature. We think he’s too dangerous to play defense, and probably still think left wing is his best position.

What do you think?

    Yes yes- KK likes Zog.
Who doesn’t pick out Charlie as one of our better performing players.
Sunday papers- chiefly NotW- report ‘an insider’ at Newcastle telling tales about KK’s tactics talk.

‘The players were left somewhat disillusioned by Keegan’s tactical team preparations for the game.

“The players were waiting for Kevin to give his instructions but all he said was ‘Arsenal are a great passing team. We must make sure we pass the ball better than them’. That was it,” reported the anonymous source.

“There were no specific tactics, no work on set pieces … the players were stunned.”

Southern press- got to love them!

I think this role is not his one!! He failed now more than once. He is a left winger and that’s it.

Against arsenal he was propably one of our worste player becouse he did not manage to pass the ball in time. DUFF was far better and I think they need to fight out game for game who should play…

we need a real playmaking strong defensive midfielder (CARRICK?)!! someone who replaces BUTT (who was even worser to see…) or play with him together until the end of the season. in summer we then need a offensive partner for our new face!

well but I start to think that no one will be ready an willing to come to us in january

put zog on the left, duff on the right, emre and roz in the center. Make Milner earn his way back into a starting position. He need to work on his crossing.

He has to play on the wing, cause in he center he is just not good enough. Butt was awful today, but it favours that he always had to cover Zog, cause he lost possession too easily.
