Keegan – Meaningful Transfers In The Summer

Kevin Keegan and his squad head back to the Emirates for tonight’s league game against Arsenal, and it’s looking like nobody will be coming through the January transfer window before Friday morning.

Kevin Keegan – meaningful transfers will happen in the summer

Kevin talked about the transfer situation:

“We are set in the summer to add to the squad in a way I think will be really meaningful, as opposed to now where you are taking chances.”

“If you get one who is an absolute top-notcher, who has played at the highest level, then you might do it.”

“But at this moment in time, there have not been that many put forward to us who fit that criterion that you can realistically get.”

We still have time to get say one player through the door. If we can capture somebody like Giles Barnes from Derby County, we think that will be a solid buy, and he’s one for the future in a way. And it would be good to see how he fits into Kevin’s free flowing style of football – very well we think.

But we think Chris Mort and his staff will be working hard through the end of the season to negotiate deals for the players Kevin has identified he wants. So at least it should be an exciting summer for the transfer market, given that January been a bit of a dud, following the fantastic news that Keegan was coming back to the club.

thid one actually has quotes Cam_Toon, so there is surely truth to it :

“”Considering that 31 January is getting closer, we have to negotiate,” Brno’s major shareholder Roman Pros confirmed to CTK.

“There are no further obligations to Juventus. Despite that, we are awaiting their statement but in the meantime we have started talks with Newcastle who know our requirements for releasing Kalouda.”

i still don’t think we can compete with Juve though, unless he has a dream of playing in the EPL or if we can offer first team footy.

it’s still too early to say we won’t be signing anyone this month, even with only 3 days left to do deals.

a lot of transfers don’t go through until the last day of the window, so don’t jump the gun just yet.

before people starting speculating on the rights and wrongs and the pro’s and con’s of dennis wise and his role at newcastle it might be worth reading up on the facts which you can find on
the southern based media will always make it out to be a big deal but after reading the article i mention i now feel like its the right move. For once it feels like we are going to be run like a professional sporting organisation rather than a pub team capable of pulling off a few decent signings. read the article on and come back here and discuss. Thanks

It’s amazing how many big transfers are completed on the last day with some ‘big players’ getting itchy feet for one reason or another. Especially loan deals. I wouldn’t be surprised to see KK get a couple in on loan which can be a good thing as he can evaluate the players and make a decision in the summer. It’ll be bust on Thursday i’m sure.

not being picky but Giles Barnes is only 19. Not 20 until August. Even better though.

broon ale it is a good article. Our club is beginning to be run like a professional outfit. All top teams do it this way and if we are to eventually gatecrash the party then we need to be run immaculately from top to bottom. I think our new owner and Chairman are doing a great job.

They are engineered and designed to ATTRACT BIGGER CLUBS.

I’m not that bothered about panic buying in January. Lets give United the luxury of the time to put a Keegan team together during the summer. We’ve got a pretty good squad without any January buys.

if we are not careful, we will be planning for life in the championship mind let me warn you all. if results go against us tonight, we could find ourselves 3 points off the relegation places tonight, our away record is dross, so therefore we would need to win every home game until the end of the season, and that aint going to happen. i am slightly worried that no one is coming in. we all no what we need and we are not going to get it. it was all a buzz kevin keegan coming back, at the min, the buzz aint there. yes we played well at arsenal first half, same result though at the end of the day a loss.

You can’t really judge how good a player is watching clips of him on you tube! If that was the case, even Luque and Ameobi would look like world beaters if someone compiled all their goals in one clip. I bet you half of us never heard of this guy b4 today morning
