Kevin Keegan is putting a damper on any Newcastle talk of bringing in new players.
Chris Mort and Kevin Keegan – no joy in transfer market
Kevin doesn’t even think the Giles Barnes deal will be resurrected before the window slams shut at midnight tomorrow. Seems like Kevin is looking forward to welcoming back his four players away on African duty. although Nigeria’s 2-0 win against Benin last night means that Martins will not be home this week.
Kevin talked to the Evening Chronicle today concerning the transfer situation:
“I’ll be honest with you – I’ve sat down and looked, and there isn’t anyone out there who is going to strengthen us better than when the four players to come back from the African Nations Cup.â€
Keegan is also not going to let any of his first team leave in January either, because he needs to have a look at who’s at the club right now, and there’s plenty of time for departures in the summer as we bring new players in.does not expect to be involved in any last-day buying, he is clearly not interested in letting any of his first-team squad go.
Several clubs have been looking at potentially available Newcastle players as strikers Shola Ameobi and Andy Carroll.
But the Newcastle manager is having none of it as he continued:
“I cannot let anybody go out. I’ve had inquiries for three players – one loan and two to sell – but I can’t do it. It would be madness.”
“It would be impossible to sell as I haven’t got enough players.â€
Newcastle are said to be ready to add one player to their staff before the window closes, and the Evening Chronicle is saying that’s a young Italian who, if he does sign for the club, will be another for the future, like Tozer, Baheng and Kadar, who are great additions to our club for the future. 😀
