Newcastle center-back David Rozehnal has given a surprising interview to Pravo, in which he says he is bitter at Newcastle United.
Rozehnal – surprisingly negative comments from our Czech International
David told Pravo today:
“I am bitter. I was looking forward very much to coming to Newcastle after playing at Club Brugge and PSG.†“Now I am not sure if this looks like a dream spell. I did not expect I would be sitting on the bench.â€
“Once I play as right-back, then left-back. Then in right midfield, or as a defensive midfielder.†“For instance, in the FA Cup fixture against Arsenal the coach wanted me to play in center midfield like when I played against Bolton, but Enrique injured himself so I was put in defence.”
“I don’t like such rotation.” “I don’t want to drop out of it ahead of Euro 2008. Training (sessions) at Newcastle are of a high-quality but game practice is irreplaceable.”
Rozehnal, who apparently has been linked with Lazio and Real Zaragoza, plans to speak with Keegan over his plans for the future, but still says he is determined to fight for his place.
David said:
“He promised to speak to us individually. I want to know his ideas and therefore know what I can expect.–I like competition, it is useful. There are four equally-talented players for my position. I admit that the team composition is up to our coach and don’t complain at all.â€
“But I think we are on the same level, I am not worse than them. Moreover, I showed some good performances at the beginning.â€
“That is why I am so sad that I don’t play as much as I wish to. That is why I don’t feel as well as I felt in Brugge or in Paris. I will fight on.”
David though has a bad habit of making mistakes that lead to goals, and he has made such mistakes at Newcastle. But if he is this unhappy we may see him moved out in the summer, depending on what Keegan has in mind for the summer transfers.
We only want players who want to play for the club, and in all honesty he has hardly set the Premiership alight in his time at Newcastle, although he has looked a decent enough player.
We’re surprised and a little disappointed by this outburst, and think David should have talked to Kevin Keegan first, before expressing these views in the press.
What do you think?

Comment #86Its been on Sky Sports News he wants to leave.
Not the first time we have heard this from him.
Rozenhal wants to put in as much effort into tackles then he would be ok
If he has to be selected play then better in midfield cos when he drops bollocks we have cover behind him.

Comment #91frankie, it never said on SSN that he wanted to leave. this story has either come from Willie Mckay (his so called agent), Alan Oliver or its a complete lie!! there is no quotes from N’zogbia! sky sports simply said spurs have denied making a bid for him. how come you hav took that as n’zogbia saying “i want to leave”

Newcastle’s new technical director Jeff Vetere has lined up the move for the highly-rated forward, Fabio Zamblera.
The Italy Under 18 international has agreed personal terms and passed a medical at St James’ Park.
Zamblera has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at St James’ Park.
The Italian becomes our first signing under the new regime..

Comment #96cacapa and rozehnal…well, they’re both proven players, cacapa lyon’s captain for 4-5 years, and rozhenal, cezch international and he was in best XI in french league last year… i think the problem’s in some player’s heads… we lack of confidence, that’s the reason why i’m keep saying we need a leader in our midfield…i mean we already have a great squad, all players are good (almost all), we’ve all seen them,…
we don’t need to buy new players, we just need to (ex)change one section 🙂

Comment #98Broon ale, just as I heard it on SSN.
Take on board he hasn’t come out and stated it “from the horses mouth” but it aint the first time Zog has courted controversy like this at the club.
Is there smoke without fire or is it just about sowing seeds for more money for concerned parties.
Hope it IS just paper talk,

Comment #102Did anyone watch match of the day, the day of the Bolton match Rozenhal was on getting interviewed and praising Keegan for being friendly and talking to the player’s 1 on 1. I wonder what has changed so quickly surely if you have been playing shite like he has you cannot expect to be 1st choice.

Comment #103The good thing with that team is that we can start to rotate our attacking play, and if something isn’t working then mix it up abit. Faye doesn’t have the intelligence to play next to Taylor at the back, but in DM he can be a wall of strength and energy that breaks up play and releases the ball easy to start an attack.
Owen has started to drop back to get the ball and spread the play, so he can be the link man behind the lightning fast Oba, who, given the right service, could be up there with the most fearsome strikers in football.

A player like Rozehnal should be clever enough to know that he has never reached his best level; on the contrary he has not played that often a good game. Okay he has played several positions now but that is a bit the problem we face. Not enough back up, too small squad. If he prooves that he must play okay, but untill today I can’t say that Roz deserves his place in the starting lineup.
I think all the youngsters coming can be good for the future, if they get managed in a correct way, that will be very important now. If they are not good coached then we will have big problems in the future…

Comment #105fact 1 – given is a great goalkeeper, and had a dodgy little niggly mistakes in the arsenal game which didnt amount to any goals.
fact 2 – any body that thinks given should be replaced knows nothing about football and proves that they just look at a players last game as a basis of opinion.
fact 3 – if we are going to make any star signings we are going to have to use the team we;ve got so somehow qualify for europe through the inter toto cup, and the players will follow.
Good luck Kev

Comment #107No Jamie G, im looking at a number of his performances this season, the man united game he was good until he made an embarrassing error and cost us a goal. His clearances and long balls are what have dropped the most in quality.

Comment #108Also i noticed jamie say cacapa is crap becuae he has no pace. neither does john terry mate! i think cacapa is solid, just needs a bit more EPL experiance and theres only one way of achievint that.
As for Rozenhal, he is a slightly better version of titus bramble. he makes clangers and has done all season long. he seems arrogant and due to this he is not anywhere near as good as he thinks he is. as soon as barton replaced him the other night we seemed a better team.
P.S Dragoner, the mistake at old trafford was down to a dodgy back pass, and pretty bad defending in general.

Comment #110Frankieboy – very similar team to mine, and I had forgotton about Emre and Barton, both of whom could swap with any of the midfield 3, which is what I was trying to say. We need a steady back four, good partnership up front, a protective barrier in front of the defence, and the midfield trio could be rotated on form and necessity.
Milner Barton N’Zogbia – probably my favoured 3…perhaps duff for Milner…Emre hasn’t produced yet, and Barton looked a really good player the other day

Comment #111Also, two tactical aspects of our game I have become increasingly frustrated about, 1. Our defence stands off all attackers, leading to every team scoring wonder goals against us (if they do pressurise every player runs to the same man and makes it easy to pass around us). 2. our defence should push up to the half way line and condense the pitch, leading to our flair players becoming more important, and meaning when we lose the ball, especially against poorer teams, we can get it back quicker and maintain possession in the oposition half for longer!

Emre just needs a run in the team to produce… and he will, providing he controls his temper.
Been impressed with Faye all season and is THE barrier you mention we need at all times.
Bring in Albert as defensive coach to sort their problems could be the solution.
Would statrt every game with attacking formation and change as/if necessary as game progresses.
Let other teams worry about us.

Comment #118It takes time for most foreign defenders to settle in the Premiership. I remember when Manchester United first acquired Vidic. He looked awful and was definitely not fit enough for the pace that was required in the Premiership. It took him barely a season to adapt and look where he is now – top 5 defender in the Premiership for sure.
Evra, even though he’s a left-back, was terrible in his first matches for Man Utd. He wasn’t used to the physical game of the Premiership and was overrun many times by lesser opponents. Today he’s arguably the best left-back in the Premiership, perhaps in the world.
I say give these guys some more time to adapt and settle in. You have to understand that there are many things these foreign players have to deal with when they come over, and it will require time to adjust to all of it. After all, Rome was not built in one day…and I hope NUFC is not trying to build a team that way either.
