Newcastle Fires Blanks In Transfer Market

There was a big disappointment tonight for Newcastle United fans, who were hoping for one, or maybe even two senior players to come in through the transfer window tonight, but it wasn’t to be.

keegan_kevin_mcfc_profile_2004.jpg

Kevin Keegan – must now inspire the players he’s left with

We would normally now say that Kevin Keegan will have to do with the players he inherited – but that’s not even true as David Rozehnal, after some uncalled for remarks to the press today, was dispatched to Lazio on loan through the end of the season.

We definitely think the Czech has played his last game for Newcastle, and to be honest, he wasn’t good enough for the Premier League. David just made too many mistakes to be a solid enough defender in English Football, and dithered too much on the ball.

There was news tonight that maybe Goran Pandev could be a surprise signing, since Newcastle had already talked to Lazio about the Rozehnal deal. There was some news that maybe David Bentley was on his way, but then it all became rumors – and some of them made up by fans having a laugh.

Newcastle did finally bring 17 year-old star in the making Fabio Zamblera, who stands 6’3″, and is an excellent young striker.

There was also some possibility earlier in the day that Tottenhams’ 20 year-old German midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng may be a target, but there was no truth in that one either.

Good news tonight for Newcastle is that Senegal failed to qualify for the quarter-finals in the African Cup of Nations and are on their way back to Newcastle, and may even be able to play on Sunday. They are probably the best two signings Sam made in the summer.

It’s also kind of interesting to note it was exactly 6 months ago tonight, just after midnight, that Newcastle announced the two signings of Faye and Beye. The two lads will be welcomed back – because we really need them in the side, and that’s the truth.

So, we start the rest of the season on Sunday against Middlesbrough, and a win would be very nice indeed, and we know the Newcastle fans will be helping the team big time, and they will need that support.

A defeat is not even worth thinking about.

Comments welcome.

Keep the faith guys, i for one belive we will do much better than many think this year. Because vs Bolton we were missing 9 first team regulars (possible not to regular under KK but defo under BS) and had a game 2 days before where we played for an hr with ten men, now if thats not an excuse to drop points againts bolton i dont know what is.
Arsenal unforntunatly are a different class, while we went backward after KK left they went on to become one of the best teams in the PL infact in Europe to be honest.
Arsenal are an excellent team and dont forget we still had 7 players out for both those games well six for the second one as Barton was back.
We will be fine more than fine im sure of it 🙂 Up the Toon!!!!!

And you base your opinion on?????

The fact he hasn’t made an appearance for mighty Atalanta yet?

    Excellent young striker??

He played for the worst U17 Italian youth team in living memory (check it out).

More spurious bull cut & paste from our friend a million miles away….

People are complaining about no action in the market but i dont think its that bad. We could have bought more shit players in like luque and gooch etc and have to get rid of them in the end. At least kk knows what hes got. It is a good group of players and it means in the summer, he will have a really good idea about what he thinks the team need. For once he havent been held to ransom over some player because we want t be seen to be making high profile signings! i cant believe people cant see this and are actually complaining. What does it take to please some fans!
We will get some of the guys back from ANC and they will help strngthen.
In fact, the only bad thing i can see is sending rosenhal out. I think that leaves us with three CB which could be a bit short. But maybe it was due to the comments he made?
Im interested to see where faye will fit in? i think he would do well at cb or dm but cacapa is playing well and i would like to see emre and barton. so that will be interesting.
    Come on people have faith!

Laughable ! We need more players, yet we sell a defender and buy croc all.

The muppets only have themselves to blame if we get relegated this season. A few injuries and we are scrooged.

    Typical Newcastle United.
    Why do I bother ?

Then again, maybe Mike Ashley lost his debit card…….

If Zamblera actually signed, it think this maybe a good thing. Whilst I haven’t seen anything of him, he wears the #9 shirt for Italy U17. I can’t find any stats from the most recent tournament. Would like to see how he faired against his peers.

Very disappointing otherwise. I cannot wait for Sunday against the Boro. I just want to record a win and get some momentum going. Praying we start with Emre and Barton in the middle. Get our strikers some service. Will make my day. We must close the gulf between our midfield and strikers. Owen is so isolated.

Emre is going to be key to our survival. Make no mistake about it, 7 points above the drop zone and a hard fixture list, we’re already in a relegation battle, we’re just sitting healthier than a few other teams. I look at our games for the rest of the season and honestly, I cannot find a definite 14 points. I think we will survive, however, boro is a must win…

I genuinely believe that if we get some form going, and take some teams on, we may end up in the top half of the table. For now though, I’m just desperate for a win, some goals, a few more shots on target and hopefully staying in the premiership…

We’re not getting relegated. All of this going down talk is nonsense. Derby is automatic. That’s one. Fulham are not playing well at all and are 11 points behind us. They’re not going to catch us. That leaves Bolton, Wigan, Smogs, Brum, Mackems, Reading, and us. We might slip places but I seriously doubt that we’ll lose that much ground to all of them.

Yeah, we’re all a bit disappointed with the xfer season this time around, but being morose, stroppy little c*ntz about it is going a bit far.

yes we can bring in more shxt players but there are plenty available out there who can strengthen our current squad: Arshavin, Barnes, Kalouda, and maybe SWP, Sidwell, Diarra and Woodgate as well if the Board tried harder. i don’t care if we can play good games and collect enough pts by not making new signing … but what if we don’t? the price seems too high. an even more real possbility is that we will end up 16th or 17th and the club, Keegan and all supporters become a laugh for other PL teams and commentators out there – can we then get better players than we could have done in Jan? the ambition of the Board seems questionable now to say at least … building for the future at a big football club in a downward spiral is not just about getting a few more executives of whatever titles or a dozen “young prospects” for the reserve.

i’m getting sick of so-called newcastle fans banging on about how sh1t we are, how we’re going down cos we haven’t signed anyone, etc.

F*CK OFF the lot of you.

    frankly.

at the start of the season, everyone was looking at the players we had, and saying we’d be pushing for europe.

Well people, we still have those exact same players, less one tackle-shy czech who really won’t be missed at all.

so what’s different? we now have a manager who will get the best out of our attacking players (ignore all the sh*te in the papers about it falling apart after 3 games, sh*t stirring b*ggers, i’m sorry but losing 2 games away to arsenal in 4 days does not a crisis make)

we won’t be winning the league, but nor will we be getting relegated.

i wonder what sort of reaction the lying southern bastards will come up with if we tank boro on sunday?

F$c& them all, the national press can kiss my hairy geordie arse, cos they aren’t getting a penny more of my money, the speculative, vindictive, slanderous MF’s.

sorry for the strong language, but i’m sure it typifies the feelings of a lot of us right now.

chris f, you have gotta understand our frustration! the performances havent been good and sadly the players that we thought would push for europe have floped… if viduka was fit, joey barton wasnt a brain dead thug, alan smith bringing some form from previous clubs and big sam’s optimism bout cacapa were matched we would be gunning for europe but unfortunatly none of the above has happend…we love this club as much as you and this is why a blog like this lets us voice our concerns and opinions. we needed somenew faces and we could have pushed harder and judgingby recent form everyone on here has the right to moan! it shows we care about it.

had we beaten some of the relegation threatened sides we would be pushing for europe but thanks to big sam were not. for various reasons.

confidence is f**ked, keegans admitted as such.

and if we loose to boro we will probably have to accept coming close to relegation is a very big possibility.

keegan said the players told him we needed more players, instead we loan one out, what will that do for confidence in those that worry we dont have a good squad ?

how is it harder to find a better left back as cover when you dont have a 2nd left back as cover to start with ???

aye! what the hell is wrong with some of you? The board doesn’t know what their doing? We are shite? Relegation? We have enough quality in the squad to stay up with ease. We just need to bang in a few agianst Boro and we will be on our way, no looking back. It should be easy since Woodgate is gone now? Right? Cuz so many of you thought he was going to be our savior? So surely Boro will be shite without him, and as for spurs, well hey they are prolly goin to make a run at the top four now that they have Woody.

It wont be long lads, when we will be able to go into Emirates or Old Trafford and give them a fight, IT WON’T BE LONG!

hey everyone, especially those negative ones, relax! dont forget King Kev hasnt had a chance to train his full squad, yet. with Beye, Faye and Emre coming back to the squad, and hopefully Martins and Geremi soon, we surely can put up a gd performance and fight, hopefully starting from sunday against Middlesbrough.

though its disappointing not getting any senior team transfers done, but we’ve acquired some very gd young talents. at least look on the bright side of life, King Kev and co. didn’t go out and make panic buys, and to me, its gd that the board didnt get held to ransom by some greedy clubs/players with rumours that we have a healthy warchest. do you really want us to be overpriced and get players without serious consideration and have players flopped just to please some of the high-expectation fans?

im content enough with just the players we are having now. and im glad there are some true black-n-white fans out there still optimistic and is willing to back the club. give King Kev some credit, having drawn Bolton with so many seniors unavailable(and the players he had for that game has played more than an hour with ten men few days back, plus only had 2days of training) and then played Arsenal arguably one of the best in Europe(both away games, mind you) twice in the space of 4days isn’t at all easy. and we have Man United coming up soon. so do not expect too much. you cant expect miracles at the snap of a finger, my god!

Sam and King Kev both are very different tactician, and for players to adjust to 2very different types of playing style certainly needs time. and the mindset of the players, as i can see from the matches, still are lacking the confidence to attack at teams. but we are showing glimpses of the attacking football we all yearn for, didnt we?

slowly but surely, King Kev will bring back the attacking football to Newcastle, but needs time. dont expect too much for this season, but i can say for once, we have the quality to stay up, and we shall look forward to the new season, instead of bombarding the team we all love.

i urge we all stand together and help the team to regain confidence to PLAY football again, and that is the true spirits of the Geordies, on Tyne-side and around the world.

    Guys,
I understand the creeping fear that some of you seems to be having, however, with Senegal out of the ANC then we should have Beye and Faye back soon.

About the dilema of where to play Faye, I would rather play Tayls and Cacapa in the back,Faye and Emre/Nzog in the mid. I would love to see Owen and Martins play together. Forget about big man small man combinations, play the ball on the floor me says.
So, how are we gonna finish above Spurs? How about playing this team

    Given
    Beye, Tayls,Cacapa,Enrique
    Milner,Faye,Emre,Duff/Nzogbia
    Martins,Owen

I believe there is enough quality and speed in this team. I believe that we will be OK as long as we don’t play Smith AND Butt. Just keep those two on the bench as long as we don’t have injuries.

We will be OK. And then, in the summer KK will have at least 50m for transfers. I just hope he is making his summer shopping list as I am writing this.

End of the day lads and lasses, this season is a write off, there is nothing to play for, not cups or any real chance of qualifying for Europe. We won’t get relegated, there are far worse teams than us in the PL at the moment. Signing the entire Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal first time in January wouldn’t make a difference to our league standing, so we might as well wait until the summer and get the players we really want. Keep the faith.
