Emre is back from his 3 game suspension, and it will be good to see him in action on Sunday against Middlesbrough - in some capacity.
Emre - looking forward to Sunday’s game
Emre is one player who should benefit greatly from Kevin Keegan arriving back at the club, because he is one of our few creative and very skillful players, still left in the squad. If Allardyce had still been here maybe Emre wouldn’t even be at the club right now, although that’s probably a little harsh on Big Sam, but you get our point
Emre told BBC Radio Newcastle today:
“I play [against] Sunderland and Middlesbrough but I don’t lose yet. I hope we win.†“For the supporters this is a special game and we have to concentrate well.”
“We need three points because for the players it’s a difficult time and everybody wants to show something to the manager.†“We have to think positive every time, we have a big derby, they’re only two points behind us.â€
“We work with the ball a lot of the time, we have a tournament between young players and old players.” “It’s nice fun and games, we like it.”
We think the Turkish International can have an impact on Sunday when keegan will have almost his whole squad to choose from and it’s anybody’s guess as to what the team will be. We’d like to see the following team - but this may change by the time our Preview comes out tomorrow afternoon - so don’t hold us to this.
Given
Beye Cacapa Taylor Enrique
Milner Faye Emre N’Zogbia
Viduka Owen
Subs: Harper Butt Barton Duff Smith
That looks a good side to us with a good defense and quite a bit of skill in the team - but notice Duff doesn’t make that starting line-up with the Zog on the left wing.
Kevin will need to leave some good players out on Sunday if he wants to start Baye, Faye, N’Zogbia and Emre, which we do. Somebody isn’t going to be too happy, but maybe Kevin will start Faye and Beye and the bench, because of their escapades in Ghana this week.
Something to think about before tomorrow’s preview of the game, because we’ve actually now got some choices to make.
Comments welcome.

According to this he is and it’s pretty accurate (apart from return dates lol)
Left back is the one position we don’t have real cover for except maybe a youngster?
Zog ain’t happy there but has played well at the start of the season in that position.
Duff? Faye? who else?
7 figsdad // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:00
What about that Ben tozer or Edgar at left back…
8 ObaFan2 // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:01
I’d agree, try a youngster there.
9 GrantosUK // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:02
Hope emre starts and shows kk what he can do
10 nightfall // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:06
given
beye cacapa taylor enrique
milner faye emre n’zogbia
owen duff
subs: harper, edgar, barton, viduka, lualua
i think combination owen-duff can work well together…i’d prefer duff over viduka, ‘cos mark is just too slow…
11 ObaFan2 // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:09
Nightfall, try reading previous comments then change Enrique maybe?
12 nightfall // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:14
ok…play kadar…give him a chance…everybody’s praising him, so…why not? sure, he’s 17, but so is bale and he’s doing great…
13 JS09 // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:17

Barton and Emre it is:P
15 Elliott // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:41
Good, we need him getting back to his man city levels of form asap.
16 Keegan=God. // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:50
Is Faye and Beye back?
Enrique is injured so the Zog will be left back mate.
The squad should be:
Given
Beye Taylor Faye N’zogbia
Milner Emre Butt Duff
Owen Viduka
17 Drago // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:50
thats great if Barton will play ! He’s better than Butt and Smith together about 5 times
lol he and Emre would be great. I dont care about his past, he is one of our best players and now he must play, because i believe no one of you want to see us next season in cocacola championship…
18 craig chisholm // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:57
we have to play barton and emre in the middle with milner on the right and duff on the left, zogs at left back and try the new lad up front with owen. on a diff note, its about time we tied up taylors contract eh. the wise interview went on about local talent blah blah but here we are with taylor - who is local talent and they are not securing him into a new five year deal. its like saying one thing and doing another.
19 craig chisholm // Feb 1, 2008 at 17:58
speaking of owen, i want to see him sign to another 4 years or else put him up for sale so we can still get some money out of him before he just lets his contract trickle down and leave for nowt.
20 Tom_Toon // Feb 1, 2008 at 18:07
fook sake! i just read on the net that Fat Sam ws trying to sign Chermiti in the jan window, gutted! We should hve let him sign Chermiti then sack him
21 Elliott // Feb 1, 2008 at 18:18
Beye and Faye not in squad
22 Ashton // Feb 1, 2008 at 18:46
This my team for the dirty monkey smoggies game
—————- Given
Beye —– Taylor —- Faye—– Kadar
Lualua — Barton — Emre –N’zogbia
———- Owen —– Smith ———–
Milner is shite he dont deserve to be in the reserve team
23 Graham // Feb 1, 2008 at 18:51
I dont think Beye and Faye will start the game - Keegan will want to look at them first - subs at best for me
As for LB throw in Edgar or one of the other youngsters - Zog is wasted at left back and I dont think Keegan will put him back there as he’s clearly not happy in that position
24 Graham // Feb 1, 2008 at 18:51
Elliot - is that true, where you here it?
25 onepeterb // Feb 1, 2008 at 19:01
I would ay Carr at Left Back. He was a good as anybody v Arsenal
26 the artist formerly known as cooldj // Feb 1, 2008 at 19:07
i rate them both so i’m somewhat disappointed. faye will replace roz nicley as he can cover dm whereas beye is sams best signing so far.
27 Ashton // Feb 1, 2008 at 19:08
Enrique is fit i saw him today in the training ground but hey i want to see Kadar
28 Geordie Joe // Feb 1, 2008 at 19:14
I don’t think throwing kadar in at the deep end would be a good idea. but i don’t see any problem with giving edgar a go. He looked promising when roeder was here.
29 Tripp // Feb 1, 2008 at 20:00
Edgar had a good game vs mancs last season and got us the draw in the 73rd minute as I recall. He should at least make the bench. Maybe if we need more attacking strength we could bring him on and let Zogs move up. I can understand wanting to play proven players from the start though. There’s tremendous pressure to win this game. If the kid cocks it up in the first few minutes we’ll be in a world of hurt and the kid’s confidence will be knackered. I think the stakes might be too high. However, if the match’s going well, that might be a good time to show some confidence in the younger players and get them some valuable experience.
I want to see Viduka up front ’cause it’s smoggies. He played well in the away game and deserves a go.
30 Leo* // Feb 1, 2008 at 20:48
where did you hear that about chimitri tom_toon?
31 Tom_Toon // Feb 1, 2008 at 21:10
i just search his name and it was on this website, once before he got sacked n once in end of november
32 Fred // Feb 1, 2008 at 22:54
Go Emre Go! I was watching Barcelona last night and I was thinking… Emre is the only player on NU that have the skill to play on Barca’s team. How could BigSame let him on the bench… hopefully Keegan will recognise talent and skill. I’m happy he didn’t sign anybody because bad signing like Cacapa, Enrique and Rozehnal are hurting us. Faye is the only good signing so far because Viduka is very quiet.
33 Dunc // Feb 1, 2008 at 23:24
Chermiti is deffo a wriggler isn’t he.
A bit determined too!!!
The defenders are f”ct in this
http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-football/one-to-watch-amine-chermiti.html
34 Tom_Toon // Feb 1, 2008 at 23:27
He first touch is second to none (striker) maybe except berbatov, i like chikhaoui but chermiti has defintely got more talent IMO and we could easily pick him up for cheap as he still plays in africa.
35 Marty // Feb 2, 2008 at 10:20
Ashton i agree to leave Milner on the training ground as he cant cross his legs and give lua lua or the zog a chance there n edgar LB….
Howay the Lads
36 ChrisL // Feb 2, 2008 at 15:42
I can’t stand Carr, but unless I’m mistaken… hasn’t he played quite well since Keegan took over. It would be harsh to drop him (Sadly).
