We thought Cacapa had a decent game on Sunday, but was still caught out a few times, especially in the second half.
Claudio Cacapa – great sliding tackle saved a goal
But his fabulous tackle on 79 minutes definitely saved Newcastle, when it looked certain that Middlesbrough were about to score.
Substitute Dong Gook-Lee looked like he was going to put the ball in the net, after Shay Given had blocked one shot, but then Cacapa came sliding in with the perfect tackle to save the day for Newcastle, and put the ball out for a corner.
It was a fantastic piece of football from the Brazilian.
And Kevin was right to bring this up today, when he was interviewed by the Newcastle Evening Chronicle:
“The best tackle of the game was Claudio’s – it was a goal.â€
“It’s worth a goal to us – there’s no doubt about it.â€
“He was second favorite for a long while, but he wanted to win it.â€
We cannot make up our minds about Claudio, to be completely honest. Sometimes he made good plays on Sunday, but then was caught lacking. He’s certainly experienced, but right now we think Taylor and Faye are probably the best two center-backs at the club.
We need one top class signing in the summer for central defense, and it’s such a pity we missed out on Woodgate, who’s looked immense in the two game he’s played for Spurs. But it wasn’t to be, and it’s now water under the bridge, and we’ll have to get over it. 🙁
Wonder who we’ll get in the summer for center-back? We see Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland of FC Copenhagen, finally moved to Fulham, and played in their 2-1 win yesterday against Aston Villa.
Any ideas who we can bring in at center-back this summer?

Comment #41taylor is still young. and he smiles too much and doesn’t have a serious look. not fierce enough for a defender. but he did save afew goals in the man u match.. or it could be 9-0
