Michael Owen Back On Goals Trail

Newcastle captain Michael Owen had a good game yesterday – it was a good game because he scored a goal.

Michael Owen – excellent goal yesterday

And it looks like Kevin is becoming one of Michael’s biggest fans and Michael really should have been credited with two goals yesterday, which would have been a massive boost both for himself and the Newcastle faithful.

His goal was superb and the TV replays show him rising way above everybody else, to beautifully head the ball home. Alan Shearer himself, who was the game, would have been proud of that one.

We think the captaincy is helping Michael, though we’re not sure he will be captain next year – but we’ll see about that when the time arrives. And Michael fully expects Kevin Keegan to be one of the busiest managers in the transfer market this summer and expects quite a few new players coming in.

Michael said today:

“Hopefully we can build on our second-half performance and have a good run until the end of the season. The players we have got here, Kevin will get this club moving in the right direction. No doubt it will be a busy summer.”

“He has said to us that he likes what he sees and he has every right to because there are some good players.”

“A few of us, myself included, have not played to our full potential, but that spark will come with a win. I’m sure we will do well after that.”

Michael’s nothing if not an honest lad, and it was really great to see him score again yesterday. Michael now has 5 goals in all competitions this season, level with Mark Viduka and just two behind Oba Martins, who of course is now on his way home from Ghana.

The way Kevin’s teams play we think Michael will be knocking in quite a few more for Newcastle before the end of the season. At least we hope so.    😀

Hopefully he’ll score a few more to shut up the people who’ve been unfairly criticising him for a long time now.

Givens kicking has been awful this whole season mate, he is keeping himself in the team with his shot stopping ability, even though i personally feel he isn’t the player he used to be. Harper deserves a shot

I have never doubted his ability or his commitment, what I did have strong reservations about was his injuries. He does (touch wood) seem to have gotten over these so we now might start to see the MO that was bought for 17m. He is by a long shot the best striker we have providing he is playing.
