An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #44CJ if you are talking about Chikhaoui, hes been hit and miss, second game of the group he was absolutely immense but only Boro and Arsenal are the english team tracking Chikhaoui but its very likely he will go to Bayern in the sumer for about 10 mil.
Chermiti is def worth 4 million, if he was english at his age and scoring record probably like 10 mil at least.

Comment #46Video reviews. No way. There’s enough stoppages what with prawn sarnies, pies, pints and p*sses

Comment #47If arse is tracking him we won’t get him, unless he wants more playing time up front.
Diarra is not the kinda player we want. He’s a trouble maker and has a hugely inflated view of himself. Even if we were willing to pay his wages he’d be nothing but a stroppy c*nt who’d leave (probably sooner rather than later) as soon as something better (more money) came along.

Comment #48video replay is a big no no for me, plus goal line technology, even though it would have seen us win the other day i think it would ruin the game

So you’re saying that when an obvious goal is disallowed, the 30 seconds it would take to review is a waste of time? Hell, the amount of time that it takes a goalie to set up a decent wall is how long it would have taken to review the first disallowed goal. Most of these decisions would easily take about 30 seconds. In my estimation it’s easily worth that. Goal celebrations can go on longer than that… Limited review is the key, perhaps with a challenge rule.
For example, Keegan could challenge the disallowed goal. If he’s right the goal stands. If he’s wrong, a substitute is used up or something to that effect. Or Viduka’s supply of meat pies is stopped for a fortnight. 😉

Comment #51In my opinion video tech on offsides would be good if they could make the decision in under 10 secs cos most linesman are just guessing whether it is offside or not.

Comment #52@Tripp. I’m coming round to your way of thinking. Sky Sports could rig it so that there is an advert on whenever the video is being played. We could have rah-rah girls singing “Hey Mickey”. We could replace “L0cal Hero” with the national anthem.
Now where did I put that edible natcho hat?

Comment #53Does anyone remember that game at Arsenal about thirteen years ago, when the game was shown on their big screen in one of the corners – replays et al. Well I do. I also remember KK asking Wenger to switch the bloody thing off coz there was almost a riot at some of the decisions going against us. The screen was switched off!

Comment #54I just finished watching the game (setanta broadband put it in the archives late). Shoulda been 2-0 Toon, but I could forgive the linesman for that disallowed boro goal. The first one, however… These are things that could be reviewed in no time. Hell, the non-injuries that happen, with players wallowing on the ground (legitimately or not) waste more time than this business would take. Let’s face it, 3 refs have to watch 22 players and 7140 sq yrds of real estate is unrealistic. There if you’re not gonna do video review (and I stress that it could only be applied to “critical” decisions… our first goal, the offsides on boro’s goal being two examples… diving in the box, perhaps another, though there’s some judgement there) then you need at least 4 linesmen, and two refs on the pitch. Dean made the decision on Owen because he was on the wrong side (Schwarzer was between them) to have a decent view and I’m sure he wanted to give the goalie the benefit of the doubt. If a second ref were on the pitch he could have overruled Dean and the goal would have stood. Video review would have accomplished the same thing, but probably done a better job.

Comment #56i just think it would make it more like american football. dont get me wrong ive been over to america and watched a game, was atlanta and it was their first win in ages and was a white wash in 2001, but the constant stoppages was just annoying

Comment #57It’s really laughable when you see a rerun of the Bolton/ManU cup final where Lofthouse smashed Gregg into the goal. Now that was contact.
In Italy and France (I believe) they now have female linesman, I wonder if they could do better than some of the idiots currently in charge. I do not mind the odd dodgy decision but we seem to be getting more than our fair share at present.

Comment #58American football is nothing but set pieces, really, and I concede that it’s ideally suited to review. However, I’m not saying review every call made by the ref. Just the ones that have a major impact on the game (awarding penalties, disallowing goals, allowing goals that aren’t goals). The goal is to balance the natural flow of the game with enhanced ability to make the right call in critical situations.

Comment #59I wonder if the pace of the game is making it hard for linesmen to keep up.
