Newcastle To Sign Barnes in the Summer

There are rumors circulating that Newcastle will wrap up the signing of Derby County midfield star Giles Barnes in the summer.

Giles Barnes – coming to Newcastle in the summer

While we don’t believe too much of the popular press these days, it seems reasonable that a number of deals that Newcastle were trying to do in January, will at least be finalized now, to complete in the summer.

We have three good and talented people working on recruitment, and one of the things they will be doing is business in the transfer market, so we really hope that we can get some pre-contact forms signed to tie up some of the players, even before the summer transfer window opens.

Derby County wanted £3M plus incentives for Barnes, and we think the 19 year-old is worth that. He would fit right into the mold of play Keegan will be playing and he’s English. He’s also apparently very keen to join Newcastle United. Since Derby County are almost a certainty to be relegated, they will be letting Barnes go, so if this news is true, Newcastle have tied him up before other clubs come in.

He will be a food acquisition for the squad, and we hope to hear more as the weeks go by.

Comments welcome.

Good signing and I would like to see him joined by Carrick, Bentley, Crouch, Brown, Van Buyten and a star playmaker (diego?)

at the start of the summer transfers we will hav signed 2 – 3 top players and more to come in between or throughout the summer. dennis wise and the two others will be working already on the targets and will be hopin to sign them early as possible.! as we hav professionally set up good formalities to it!!

Didn’t know we had a team of cannibals Ed,
shouldn’t we have a perimeter fence around the pitch to protect the fans?

Hope we do get him in the summer, but think we will probably look to a higher standard of player in the summer .On a difeernent subject and sorry to be negative but im really worried about relegation now, how many points do you honestly think we need? I think 37 will be enough this year?

Hate to say this guys but what happens if we end up going down this summer……..we won’t be able to get Barnes or ANY decent players.

I just wished we’d brough some in in the Jan window.

I’m guessing Ed was thinking of the curry lunch ahead 😉

Anyway I like seeing some young signings, especially after witnessing Viduka and his veteran legs (atleast Owen did put some effort and running into yesterdays game).

Maybe we could also get some height in the offense aswell, less midgets please! Allthough Crouch would be exaggerating a bit 😀

Can’t believe ANYONE thinks we’ll get relegated! Fulham and Birmingham are 7 and 9 points behind us respectively – you really think they’ll out perform us by that much before the end of the season?!!!

    Drama Queens!

    We’ve signed another youngster…,19528,11095_3108060,00.html

dont forget we have to play Blackburn (H)Reading (H) Fulham(H)Sunderscum(H) Birmingham(A)so our destiny is in our own hands really if we beat these teams then I think we will be safe, also a lot of the teams below us have to play each other in the up n commin weeks so this may take care of a few issues, I think it is only 3rd bottom that is left to worry about derby are down n fulham are almost dead

However dont forget we have relatively few ‘easier’ games, one of these against the mackems, and we saw on sunday how badly we cope when teams pack their midfield and try to stifle us at home. The bottom teams playing each other means that one of them is guaranteed points from these games. Unless we miraculously find some away form then we are in for a battle to secure the 3 wins we need to ensure safety.

i would say people like carrick are realistic targets in the summer because they play for teams that play the football we want to see. wouldnt be suprised to a few arsenal players coming hoyte etc

I agree tom toon, he is not that great but has some potential. He would have been a good January buy but we should be aiming for better players in the summer. A lot of people on here just say he is good because they are so desperate for a new face

Yes he’s a “geordie” but hes is not worth 17m. If we can get him for say 12m then MAYBE. He’s is not flair at all!!!!!!!!! All he can do is receive pass, he’s a MUPPET!!!

I just hope that when end of season comes we still have a good rep for attracting top class players.3 years ago defoe and woodgate would have joined the toon in a heartbeat.

I also believe all this talk of fans demanding the impossible is gonna hinder signings and this is the reason parker left and what i wouldnt give to have him back at the toon instead of butt.

Macas – if you look at the other teams fixtures as well, not just ours it gives the bigger picture, for example..

Boro still have Liverpool, villa, arsenal, chelsea, manu, spurs, sunderland and mancity

birmingham still have to play Arsenal, Spurs, man city, portsmouth & Liverpool.

reading have to playVilla, man city, liverpool, arsenal

Wigan have to play man city, arsenal, portsmouth, chelsea, spurs, villa and man u

So its not an easy ride in for any of those teams either, all i am saying is that when we come up against fulham, birmingham, reading and play the way we should then those reaults should be enough given the other games theses teams have got

We need four wins to reach the magic staying up total, and that is assuming the teams below us don’t suddenly start winning (unlikely).

And whilst we are talking about where we will finish up now I would like to apologise to the idiots who I called idiots for saying we would finish in the bottom ten in Ed’s pre season poll. (although I hate you all from the heart of my bottom for getting close to the actual, postitioning although you could still be wrong)

And who do you fancy for the National 🙂

I’m getting really tired of the wording in these blog headlines. Ed, my friend, please, these are starting to look worse than mainstream media headlines.

“Newcastle To Sign Barnes in the Summer” means that the author -knows- for a -fact- and has -irrefutable- evidence to -back- his claim that Barnes -will- be signed in the Summer.

What the article -actually- says is that there -might- or -might not- be renewed interested in -trying- to sign Barnes in the Summer.

An ethical author would have titled this article as “Newcastle maybe still interested in Barnes this Summer”.

Integrity is a man’s gift to himself, Ed.

ende – point taken – after the article was put up I did see that West Ham are in there for Barnes too. Guess I’m hoping we get him. Anyway – will hopefully improve headlines from now on – promise. The worst you can say is that we are starting to look like the popular press – stinging criticism indeed. 😀
