Shay Given’s Celebrity Fashion Show For Charity

We are always very happy to publicize Charity events that Newcastle players participate in, and there’s a big one coming up we’d like to highlight.

Shay Given in full NUFC dress, who are those handsome Irishmen with him?

Shay Given is Patron of the Macmillan Cancer Tyne-side Appeal, and he and his wife Jane do outstanding work for charity in the local North East area. Here is the piece taken from the Newcastle United Official Site about the evening, which will be on Tuesday night, 4th March.

Please see if you can attend and/or support the Macmillan Cancer Tyne-side Appeal – for those worse off than ourselves.

Many Thanks.

Shay Given and his fellow Newcastle United stars will once again strut their stuff on the catwalk on March 4, and Irish chart-toppers Westlife are also coming back for an evening that raises vital funds for charity.

This year’s Fashion Kicks promises to be even bigger and better than previous events.

Fabulous fashion, food and fantastic entertainment will again be guaranteed – and celebrity chef Paul Rankin has also volunteered to join the Newcastle players on the catwalk!

Last year’s Fashion Kicks raised over £200,000 for the Macmillan Cancer Tyneside Appeal, of which Shay Given is Patron. This year the Teenage Cancer Trust will also be a beneficiary of this glittering affair.

Cruise Clothing will again provide the clothes for the Fashion Show which will preview spring/summer collections of Armani, Boss, Prada and D & G. Multi award winning Hooker & Young Hair Design will be making sure the models are suitably coiffeured to take to the catwalk. The event is being supported by Shay’s Kit Sponsor, Brake Fresh Ideas

The reappearance of Shay’s big friends Westlife, who will be taking time out from their very busy schedule to make a special guest appearance, will also boost the sell out show.

Shay said:

“I’m really thrilled the players have again agreed to help me raise valuable funds for charity.

“We were all a little worried about taking to the Catwalk last year, but once we were up there, we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it’s a great feeling to know we are contributing to something meaningful and helping others.

“I would also like to thank my wife Jane who is always willing to help with my charity work and without whose support, I would not have been able to organize this event.”

Newcastle Chairman Chris Mort said:

“Our players work tirelessly to help local charities, and I am delighted to see the players supporting Shay once again to raise funds for such worthy causes.”

Nicky Byrne from Westlife also commented:

“We are great friends with Shay and are all really excited about getting involved in the show.

“We can’t wait to join up with Shay and the other players for what will be a fabulous evening.”

Newcastle players are famous in the community, and what we really like about this, is they are using that fame for very good charitable causes.  We think that’s just great – and we’re proud of them.  Well done lads.

Comments welcome.

I think that it may be a good idea to spend a little more time practicing your kicking and general distribution of the ball and a little less time prancing around on the catwalk.
