The Spanish Under-21 side beat France last night in their friendly game in Benidorm, when a goal in each half was enough to beat the visitors 2-0. Newcastle players Jose Enrique and Charles N’Zogbia both played the full game for their countries, Spain and France respectively.

Enrique and N’Zogbia - both played the full 90 minutes yesterday
This game was meant to be a warm up when the full sides meet today at Malaga in Spain. The goal scorers last night were Sisi in the 36th minute and Arsenal’s Dabo scored an own goal for France in the 49th minute.
René Girard’s France side fell behind to a strike from Real Valladolid CF midfielder Sisinio and then Spain made the game safe shortly after half time when Mouhamadou Dabo scored an own goal when put under pressure from Diego Capel.
Spain, who top Group 4, resume their 2009 UEFA European Under-21 qualifying campaign on 26 March at home to Kazakhstan, while France, third in Group 10, are next at home to Malta on 6 September.
Qualifying for the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship kicked off on 31 May 2007 and will run until 15 October 2008. The final tournament takes place from 15 to 29 June 2009 in Sweden.
There are two stages to the qualifying competition, a group stage followed by play-offs to determine the seven nations that will join Sweden, who qualify automatically as hosts, at the eight-team final tournament.
England Under-21 look certain to qualify for the play-offs having taken 19 points from their first 7 games in their group, with an easy 3-0 win last night at St. Mary’s stadium in Southampton in front of a crowd of over 31,000.
James Milner scored the second England goal and was England’s outstanding player, and Steven Taylor was a rock at the heart of England’s defense. Here’s our report of the game.
And finally, here are the line-ups for both teams for last night’s game in Benidorm:
Spain U-21
Roberto (Casilla, 61min), Torres (Arzo, 41min), Sergio Sánchez (Javier GarcÃa, 46min), Torrejón (Canella, 61min), Jose Enrique, Angel, Raúl GarcÃa (Susaeta, 46min), Sisi (Mata, 46min), Capel, Granero Xisco (Adrián, 61 min).

Anyone any idea how the pair of them played?
I take it this means Enrique isn’t injured anymore?
Unless he’s picked up another “niggle”.

enrique is top class, i cant wait to see how good he is by next season. I hope zoggy gets out of this “i want to leave” crap because i think he is a top youngster and we need to hold on to him. Emre doesn’t play for ages, gets bad press, yet still declares his desire to remain, why cant zoggy be like that.

Message to Keegan : sign Diego Capel at all costs. One of the best left wingers in Europe right now. Fast as hell and a beckham style delivery. Superior to Nzogbia and Duff combined.
Spurs are expected to bid in the summer but WE MUST OUTBID THEM!

Frankie Boys, zogs is suspended for Sat, like the team though.
Surely Duff is in our best 11, he has been preety good last few games, at least he attacks players
17 Frankieboy // Feb 7, 2008 at 13:29
Aussie dave,
Didn’t know he was suspended. Duff obvious and natural replscement that won’t weaken the line up.
If Emre not available any time then Duff to start on left with Zog through the middle. All good enough options.
