Here are some comments and observations on today’s game, but our major complaint today is that we gave up the fight when we went 2-1 down after 6 minutes into the second half. That’s completely unacceptable to the Newcastle United faithful.
Here’s some other comments on the game today:
- The players should take note and keep playing in these games when they get behind, or we should ship them out in the summer – quickly. The second half was a pathetic imitation of a football team this afternoon – and we will soon be in relegation trouble if we don’t quickly recover from this debacle of a half – it’s completely unacceptable.
- The first half was a good performance and we deserved to be 1-0 up with a good opportunist goal form Michael Owen
- We didn’t show up for the second half and something that Newcastle fans will not tolerate form the players – they gave up the fight when we went down 2-1
- In the second half the performance was reminiscent of the Manchester United second half. The defense looked no better than League 2 standard and the players have to accept the reposnibil;ity of a despicable performance in the final 45 minutes
- Something is seriously wrong with our defenders, and it’s probably in their minds because they are decent enough players with good footballing CVs
- Kevin didn’t pick a good team today, and should not have given starts to Carr, Butt and Smith when Enrique, Faye and Viduka were available, and they are simply better players than the 3 he started. That’s the mistake Sam kept making – picking what he thought were the best 11 players but playing them out of their position. It just doesn’t work as we proved yet again today.
Drop Smith because he doesn’t deserve to be the team on current performances, and play Beye and Enrique at full back, because they are the best we have.
We cannot have favorites at the club and risk relegation because of it. Keegan should always pick the best team available whether players get upset by being left out or not.
For heavens sake they are grown men – spoiled yes – but they still should be mature enough to be able to take being dropped.
- As an example of a player out of position – the first thing Carr did after 10 seconds into the game was he got the ball on his left side, and switched it over to his right – so he could kick it away. He’s just not a left back and shouldn’t be played there. Heaven knows what Enrique must be thinking – but he’s probably already got his bags half-packed to leave the club in the summer
- Kevin will need to have a no holds barred team meeting on Monday, and get to the bottom of what is wrong with these guys – they are not performing for this club – given the wages they are receiving and each one of them needs to look themselves in the mirror – hard. If they were to have a day off Monday – it should be canceled.
This club is too big and too proud to be relegated with the squad we have
- Kevin needs to get Alan Shearer in to help with the spirit and the coaching of the team. He needs to go out of his way in the next 2 weeks to work with Kevin, as much as he can, to help with the morale and training of these players. Newcastle needs Alan Shearer to help Keegan at the club right now and we expect Alan to respond – if at all possible
- If we are to get beaten 4-1 again this season ,then the players should make sure we don’t wave the white flag as soon as we go behind – that’s just not acceptable
- If the senior players aren’t willing to fight for the team in the remaining games – bring in the youngsters – they’ll be willing to fight for the team
Comments welcome – just keep the language decent for the kids.

Comment #85Kev is a Joker. I swear, because the guy did this in the 80s we think in 2008 he is going to do the same. Sorry dudes but his “swash buckling” “swagger” “Get up a em” and “in your face” football is not going to cut it.
sorry Rob, but you are as delusional as I first thought. While your support and willingness to stick to keegan is enviable, it is hooligan as well.
The guy should be in a circus. I could manage better than this crap on display.
To be a winner you need a winner. Not a quitter. What are the odds of him quitting. HE quits to save himself the humiliation of being Sacked.

Comment #86Dragoner- Scary but true. It does all look like a smoke screen from Mike Ashley. Your points have made me think and it scares me. I am having my first doubts on Mike Ashley. Why didn’t he up the Barnes bid?? We clearly need him (or any decent players for that matter) and it seemed he only offered a ridiculous amount to shut us up for now. We will be lucky to still be in the premiership come summer. This has got to be the most depressing season of the eleven years i support Newcastle. What the hell is going on?? I just can’t put my finger on it. Soooo many bad decisions have got us where we are now and I am afraid to think it might be the end for us. Keegan is at no fault for this but it did worry me to realize he had left Enrique, Emre and Viduka out of todays team. Another worry is Shay Given. What on earth has happened to him? He looks really uncomfortable and lacking confidence badly. Ever since Marlon Harewood ripped his stomach open the poor guy hasn’t been the same keeper and it seems he’s never recovered. I just can’t take many positives these days and it really, really worries me. I can only pray we get things right come summer. For starters get rid of the dead wood like Carr, Butt, Smith, Ameobi and Barton. No europe again next season maybe not even the premiership! Unbelievable.

Comment #89I suppose that Mr Ashley is learning the hard way how to run a football club. Perhaps his “friends” down in north London are playing a rather cruel joke. I agree that the sacking of SA would have seemed comical if it had happened to some other team. However, I don’t think we’d be in a different position in the table if he were still here. He’d have picked the same side that Keegan did. It really makes you wonder what the hell is going on on the training pitch because the teams that have been picked are so often not what the “fans” would have chosen.

Comment #90Michael: Just f**k off, alright? If you don’t like it, don’t support the club. You’re just spewing out the usual anti-Mag propaganda banded about by the london hacks and those inbreds down the road. In fact, I reckon you ARE one of those inbreds down the road.

Comment #98You Newcaslte fans are a laughing stock, when keegan arrived you were all dancing in the streets saying he would bring the good old days (not that they were eer that good) back which all other football fans realised was a load of bollocks. Sacking Allardyce was ridiculous, the guy has a proven record and you were in 11th place! Not exactly terrible- the problem is newcastle fans view the club as a big one, which is simply is not. United is a big club, liverpool, arsenal, everton, villa, spurs- these are big clubs, newcastle are just a joke. Hilarious that some of you now want keegan out, ou played arsenal twice away, villa away- very tricky games. To be honest keegan should never have been appointed but now he has been you lot should get behind him- yet again newcaslte fans have proven themselves to be complete muppets.

Comment #99UTD111 – how do you know I don’t already?
ronaldeano – my sh1te is brown same as everyone elses.
I was just calling a spade a spade. King Kev hasn’t got much of a managerial record to speak of. He did do a good job for us – yes, but he did have a big sackful of cash to play with and the Prem was nowhere near as competitive back then. BUT at the end of the day we won feck all.
Some of you lot need to open your eyes to what’s happening and not just jump on someone who is telling it how it is with your mackem patter.

Comment #101I totaly agree big pea, i am talking about the style of football that he will provide and the right players to provide it. We will get them because evry footballer in the world wants to play like that, they dont want to play boring, shit football SA played, nor do they want to play for a compleate TOSSER who thinks he is hard as fook like GS? Tell me a player who wouldent want to play for one of the best strikers Braitain has ever produced?

Comment #102ronaldeano – weren’t you were one of the “fans” calling for BSA to be sacked?
How is that any different to someone criticising King Kev now?
It’s not like anyone is saying get rid of him – just that he couldn’t cut it in the past and he’s done nothing since to suggest it will be any different this time.
It’s sad but true.

Comment #104am very very sad man now.. after their 1st 2 goals we gave up & just to see them walking all over the pitch. Argghhh WHY WHY WHY NOT leave out Butt , Carr, Smith,Barton??? They’re no good enough to improve our team (okay at times they could played well ) but actually just awaiting for worst & 2nd half proved it. KK mustn’t has favoured them these meaningless passengers in our team.

Comment #106We are at 28 points, 6 pts from the drop zone.
Derby is gone, Fulham is gone barring a miracle, so that leaves 1 spot.
12 matches left, 36 possible points
6 home, 6 away
only 4 of the remaining matches are against teams below us, but of those 4, 3 are home matches.
10 more points will see us clear for sure. I have not one single doubt we can and will do that.

Comment #108Beats me what some of you want – I’ve watched United when we had some really crappy teams and a really crappy ground. If it rained we got wee’d on. There was none o this burger and chips, pint in the ground, watch the telly while you munch your burger. We had crappy managers, crappy teams – but you know what?? we had better supporters than you lot. Why? we were Geordies and proud of it and nobody, NOBODY, got away with the sort of shite you lot are spouting – we expected that from away supporters, not our own.
Cheers

Comment #111How do you know KK will get it right NEXT season. I mean, he has done nothing but crappy decisions since he arrived. IF he had seen a Newcastle game BEFORE he arrived he would not play Carr or Smith cus they have sucked all season (and I know Carr has been injured!). Everyone else sees the obvious; play the BEST team available! That excludes Carr, Smith and Butt.

Comment #113Looks bad. Last 9 games have brought 3 points and the conceding of over 2 goals every game. Lets face it this is clear relegation form, worse than Derby County at the moment! Looking at the coming fixtures will I am sure, send a shiver down the spine of the staunchest fan. At home Blackburn, Fulham, Reading and Sunderland honestly look like the only possible wins. The other two are Man Utd and Chelsea. Away we have Liverpool, Spurs, Portsmouth, West ham and Everton which looks like zero points plus Birmingham. With 28 points at the minute and 41 the usual benchmark we need to win the first four home games I listed. In my opinion only Birmingham from the rest might yield up a point and at the moment that is optimistic. So how does anyone think those 4 games will go because for me both Blackburn and the Mackems look like banana skins and I honestly believe for the first time since promotion that the Toon are going down. There is an unstoppable momentum to this one and Mike Ashley’s sphincter is starting to twitch. In my opinion it was a big mistake not to get someone in during the window even if it was just to give everyone a boost.

Comment #114I am no Mackem, of that I assure you all.
Guys, put yourself on the level of a business. That is what every football team is. A Business in which people invest money to make more money. You do not get a manager who says he cannot do his job. Can you imagine JP morgan or Citi group hiring a manager or CEO who says I cannot do the job. No…. The stake holders do not appoint the managers or CEO because they love him.
Faith is over rated. We need results not a feeling of comfort.

Comment #115as always, NUFC.com is spot on:
An absolutely shambolic second half showing at Villa Park left no-one in any doubt that the remainder of this season is now a fight against relegation.
Michael Owen’s fourth minute opener should have provided a platform for United to build on against a very ordinary Villa side who struggled to threaten us in a surprisingly comfortable first 45 minutes.
Two quick goals after the break sent us into an alarming downward spiral with the third goal taking us to a new level of defensive incompetence.
And as for Stephen Carr’s handball for the fourth…. Words aren’t adequate to describe the stupidity of this rotten right back who is twice as bad at left back.
Joey Barton and Alan Smith are two players not good enough to be anywhere near a first team place, based on performance, but this threadbare squad is struggling to suggest any replacements.
On today’s second half showing, you’d even welcome back Geremi. That’s how desperate it was.
If Mark Viduka was fit enough to be on the bench, then why he didn’t replace Smith is an absolute mystery. He certainly couldn’t have been any worse at holding up the ball.
All we can say is we hope you took advantage of Paddy Power’s 12/1 on Owen to score first. It was the only possible consolation from this nightmare.

“Big” doesnt stop you going down. Points stop you going down. No club is too “big to go down”. But our fate is in our own hands. What you lot can do is shut the f**k up and start getting behind the lads at the game.
