Carroll Not Leaving Newcastle This Season

Kevin Keegan has decided not to let Andrew Carroll go out on loan this season. Carroll just completed his loan move to Preston North End in January, and that didn’t go too well, since Andrew didn’t get many games at Deepdale.

Andrew Carroll – will stay at Newcastle this season

However, since he’s returned Andrew has looked very good, and it looks like Kevin thinks he may be able to use Carroll this season, and maybe he wants to have a closer look at the England Under-19 International. If Keegan is impressed maybe he’ll keep him at Newcastle next season too, if he thinks Andrew can break into the first team.

Kevin Keegan told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle today:

“Absolutely no chance.” “We wouldn’t let anybody out on loan at the moment.”

“We’ve let David Rozehnal go for reasons I’ve explained before, but we just wouldn’t be doing our jobs properly if we left this club bare.”

“He can learn everything he needs to learn here at the moment.”

Keegan will be quite willing in the future, oned he gets some additional top senior players into the club, to send some of his younger charges out on loan. That allows them to continue their development by getting first team game at other clubs, probably in the Championship.

Keegan added:

“There will be loads of times in the future when we get a bigger, stronger squad, and when everybody’s fit, that we can let players go out if we think it’s beneficial.”

“I’ve never been scared to do that. I’ve done it quite a lot in my career as a manager, but at the moment Andy’s got to stay here and play, if asked, in the first team, and make the training competitive.”

We still think it’s possible that other players at the club could be sent out on loan to Championship clubs, before the end of the season, if Keegan deems that would be beneficial to specific players.

20 year-old David Edgar – Reserve team captain may be sent out on loan

We had expected young 20 year-old David Edgar, the Canadian Under-20 captain, to have been sent out on loan before now, to give him some games, since he’s only playing for the reserves right now. We also expected some of our new recruits like Ben Tozer to be sent out on loan this season too, but there has been no news of any loan deals being done yet.

This will be an important part of the club now, since we will be bringing in good young players, and they will need developing at other clubs, as they continue to learn their trade.

I’d give him a go against Ferdinand, he would definitely cause a threat with 20 mins left to play. But most likely the game will be over by that point anyway!!!!

I would start him, with Owen & Martins. The best form of defense is attack and our defence is leaking goals all over the shop!! With his height, pace and ability he will cause problems for any defence and could open oportunities for Owen & Martins.

Its Man Ure, we have nothing to lose, but could well gain an aweful lot!!!!
