Keegan and Fans Looking for Big Improvement

After 2 weeks of intensive training. our game with the Red Devils just over 6 hours away, and we’ll be able to tell just how much progress we’ve made in that time – we hope it’s a lot.

Kevin Keegan – 2 weeks of intensive training with the squad

Kevin talked to the Newcastle Journal this morning:

“It came at a good time. We have got everyone back now. When I first came, there were four players I had never met and weren’t to meet for three weeks because they were at the African Nations Cup so, yeah, it has been a good couple of weeks.”

“We have been able to have decent training sessions, working on things we definitely needed to work on. Players are getting to know our plans a bit more and I know them a lot better now. As the weeks go on, we will all get to know each other even more.”

Newcastle fans are hoping that this game will mark a new beginning under Kevin, although it doesn’t mean that if we get nothing from the game, it’s necessarily a disaster. But we need to see a big improvement in organization and understanding between the players. We also expect the players to give 100% effort and concentration, but that should be a given with all our players.

If we can start to see that improvement, then our future prospects against the weaker teams, especially at St. James’ Park, will auger well for points in the league. The really important games for us are Blackburn (1st March), Fulham (22nd March), Reading (5th April) and Sunderland (19th April) all at home. We should be able to get at least 9 points from those particular games and be safe. We hope so.

What do you think?

As you say we should be able to get 9 points and more from that lot. Unfortunately losing becomes a habit and we need to break it quickly, today certainly won’t be our easiest opportunity.

My older brother supports the Man U scum and I’d love to beat them. I was sitting up with him at 2am when some bastard commentator said “now is not the night to be sitting up on the other side of the world wearing a replica jersey” after we went 2 down after ten minutes. I want revenge
