Shearer – Newcastle Fans Will Support Keegan

Alan Shearer talked to BBC Radio Five today and seems to be confident that Keegan will get time to turn Newcastle United around.

Alan Shearer – fans will remain behind the team this time around

Alan of course has been linked with a coaching position under Kevin, and we think that would be great, but we also know that not every fan thinks it will work. We think both men love the club so much that they’d always put the club first if they worked together. And then Keegan could help groom Alan to take over the club when he finally retires. Then Kevin could (should) remain at the club in some other position.

Shearer said on BBC Radio Five Live:

“They’ll give him as much time as he needs,” “He’s signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and he said at the weekend he’s here for that.”“There’s no reason at all why he won’t see that out.” “Kevin will get more time than anyone else because of what he did on his first time around at Newcastle.”

“Without doubt, he’ll have the support of the crowd right the way through that.”

Newcastle are in real danger of becoming part of the relegation scrap and even though we are still fairly safe at the moment, losing games week in week out will eventually catch up with us, unless we can stop this slump.

The next chance we have is against Blackburn on Saturday, and all through the match on Saturday the crowd was behind the team. They were great. Another good showing of support on Saturday can help us get 3 points, and that would be a huge relief for everybody.    😀

Alan continued:

“Everything boils down to results and, at this moment in time, Newcastle aren’t getting them.”“I don’t think they’ll have any chance of going down.” “I know the run of results they’ve had suggest they’re going to get involved in a scrap but I still feel that they’re a much better team than those that are around them at the bottom.”

“They’ve got a fixture coming on Saturday – Blackburn at home – which is obviously very winnable.” “What’s very important as well is that the crowd is still with them

There have been reports that Alan will help coach the side through the end of the season as his time permits. We’d like to see Alan at the training ground working with the players to help turn their confidence around. Anything that can be turn to keep us safe this season is needed right now.

Then when this nightmare season, which is what it’s turned out to be, is over – we can look forward to reinforcements in the summer. But we think it’s going to take more than 4 good players coming in to do that.

What do you think?

Comments are very welcome.

Keegan says we need 2 or 3 players which is very worrying – we need 5 or 6 top quality players to turn this team around. And blind loyalty to older pros such as Smith and Butt could destroy us.

its not the strikers that are the problem is the lack of pacey creativity from the midfield.

Keegan will get all the time in the world but it won’t help if we start getting on his back about his selections. No I wouldn’t have smith playing either but keegan knows a lot more about football than me so let’s not be negative towards his choices – yet!!!

keegan says that we need 3 or 4 players but none of the team have pace apart from n’zogbia and martins.and we may still sell n’zogbia. the team is full of of allardyce players and we want keegan players. keegan said we are trying to be like arsenal so how many of boltons team play like arsenal?

agree with you Graham. of coz KK can try other players in Smithys position, but at the moment I think KK knows what he’s doing.
some more creativity from the midfielders and right/left defenders, and we can have a go.

they should make all the players train on a massive treadmill, they would get them fit. score a goal past moving posts, would be an interesting watch, bet shearer could do it.

maybe he will pull his boots on for us till the end of the season 😉

we need pace play, and no nicky butt joey barton or alan smith next season.

Leo – we need pace – and yet you want a 38 year old to come back in after sitting on the BBC settee for 2 years? nice idea.

And whats with the “bet shearer could do it” Whats the fascination with Shearer? He hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for 2 years for gods sake so what makes you think he could “do it”?

He’s history so stop talkking as though the rest of the team should look up to him and try to be like him!

If he has kept his fitness levels up then I would put money on AS playing as well now as any one else currently in the Toon lineup. It would be interesting to see how he fared on the training ground as an advisor. Does he have the coaching qualifications for coaching and management.

Kevin has a cunning plan. We al know that Smith gets picked no matter what due to Ashleys involvement.

So Kevin is losing game after game to make a point to Ashley. Let me sort the players and then we might win.

    Seriously though
I think when we play winable games he will try different combinations. He knows against Arsenal liverpool manu that we are going to get beat so let the players who will be out in the summer take the pasting rather than youngsters who will get demoralized
