Newcastle After 17 Year-Old Gary Madine

We will not only be linked with many senior players from now until the transfer window closes on August 31st but also lots of younger stars.

Gary Madine – 12 goals this season for Carlisle Youth team

So it’s not too surprising that we are being linked today with teenager Gary Madine of Carlisle United and he may well be the next young player snapped up by the club in their efforts to bring in the best young players around the world.

The tall 17-year-old has been one of the stars in the Carlisle Youth team’s success in the FA Youth Cup when they recently knocked out giants Manchester United. They beat the Red Devils youth team 2-1 on January 16th in the 4th round of the FA Youth Cup with a penalty goal coming from young Gary.

Gary has just signed just signed a professional contract and like our own Andy Carroll, hails from Gateshead.  Madine has already scored 12 goals this year and has made the substitutes’ bench for the first team.

Don’t be surprised if this deal has already been tied up by our new Executive Recruitment team, if indeed Gary looks the part. We expect around 5 new youngsters again to be brought in during the summer transfer window.

Then we should have a really strong youth side for an attempt at the FA Youth Cup next season, which we haven’t won since 1984 when a certain Paul Gascoigne was in the side.

Comments welcome.

According to the Daily Mirror the lad hails from Gateshead. One who slipped through the net. Too many have managed that over the years. It is time our home grown talent developed with The Toon. Hope he is a prospect we can get and keep. The loss list must be quite long by now!

Does anybody know who the best Geordie players in other teams are? Carrick is one but would he come home? Manky Utd might now be a team he does not want to leave. I tried the web for quality local born players without success.

michael carrick would have to be the best at the moment from the north east, there is unlikely to be publications of ‘the best local talent’ unless you were looking for a hire girl in the yellow pages 😉

Wasnt it 1985 ed? When we won the youth cup 4 – 1 versus Watford? I was 5 and i was there. I think David James was in goal for Watford. I remember Gazza and Joe Allen playing for us. If im correct what a super 5 year old memory I had.

Wow Tom_Toon you actually know who Ronaldinho is?! Thought you had only heard of obscure players that won’t come anywhere near to playing for this club?

I know two adopted geordies we could do with right about now

    Nobby Solano and Antoine Sibierski

The sheff united left back/winger Chris Armstrong is a geordie he is pretty decent but the only ones in the prem of note are Carrick (Please please please come home) and Martin Taylor (Chopper from Ashington) Chopra now at Mackems and Sinclair at Bolton are about it apart from our players Shola, Taylor (Both born elsewhere) Ramage, Carroll, Harper, Forster and a few young lads

if you picked a team of geordies from the past 15 years what would your team be. mine would be .

    watson bruce taylor howey
    gazza clarke carrick thompson
    Beardsley shearer

That would be one hell of a team and i am sure i have left out some one obvious. its players like these who slipped through and we didn’t have them as youngsters. For example we really shouldn’t have had to fork out 15m for shearer he should have been free. But still the best 15m we ever spent.

    Watson Bruce Venison Elliott
    Clark Gazza Carrick Thompson
    Beardsley Shearer

Howey is a mackem mate as much as i liked him for his time at the toon.
He has an unreversible disease poor bastard

Taylor was born in london so ive gone for Venison who is from Consett same with harper from easington so they might not be definate toon fans either.
