The England Under-21 skipper has still not signed his new contract at the club, after there was a disagreement on it in early September between th club and his father Alf Taylor.
Steven Taylor - still hasn’t signed a new contract
Surprisingly there seems to have been no more progress on the deal, but maybe the club is just leaving it until the summer, since there are more important things to do before then – like putting some league points on the board.  Â
Kevin Keegan admitted yesterday that the club’s dip in form has taken its toll on most of his players, and that includes 22-year-old local boy Steven Taylor.
Keegan said on Friday:
“Steven Taylor is a young player, and he’s totally committed, but again he’s feeling the effects of not winning football matches.â€
Taylor has apparently put his contract talks back until the summer but Keegan knows that Steven will give him 100% in every single game – about that there is absolutely no doubt.
But we’d still be much happier if we had Steven nailed down at the club for the next 5 years. While he’ still learning the ropes at the club, he looks to be one of our great players of the future, and since he’s also a local lad who was a ball boy at the club, he’s an important figure in Newcastle’s future.
We trust the club have talked to Steven and his father Alf, who acts as Steven’s agent, and that a good deal for both parties will be struck in the summer, and the earlier in the summer the better.
What do you think?    Comments very welcome.
