Even though the team played very well on Saturday, we still ended up on the losing side for the 8th time in the last 11 league games and for the 5th time in 7 games since Kevin Keegan took over.
Kevin Keegan – 5 defeats in 7 games
And while the gossip press is probably loving the fact that Newcastle are in trouble, we saw some good signs that Kevin is finally turning the team around. There were some good performances on Saturday, that we need to take into the game against Liverpool on Saturday.
We are now just 3 points above Reading who are 3rd bottom, so whether we like it or not we’re in a relegation fight.
Kevin said yesterday:
“We have the players and know-how to get out of it,” “It is a test but the Premier League is a test from fixture one to 38 or 39 in the future.”
“You need 40 points to stay up and you can’t even be sure about that. We are not safe yet by any means.”
There was news that Mike Ashley talked to Keegan yesterday, about his concern about the team’s position in the league. We don’t blame him – but Ashley and Chris Mort don’t have a choice now. They made Kevin their choice as manager when they sacked Sam Allardyce and they will have to support him now. There can be no wavering on this.
We’re quite sure that Kevin will turn things around sooner rather than later. But we also know we need points badly, and we should go for a win in every one of our remaining games. And knowing Kevin – that’s exactly what he will do.
We have lots and lots of folks who would love it if Newcastle were relegated this season, but all those connected with the club have to stick together.
Once we get over this particular mess we’re in, we’ll shock a lot of people next season. There’s no doubt about that.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1From the Times today – not a bad estimate, the way we are playing at the moment!!! Quote-
“Looking at their fixtures, it is difficult to see where they are going to get the points to stay up. ”
Saturday Liverpool (a) Lose
March 17 Birmingham City (a) Lose
March 22 Fulham (h) Win
March 30 Tottenham (a) Lose
April 5 Reading (h) Draw
April 12 Portsmouth (a) Lose
April 19 Sunderland (h) Draw
April 26 West Ham United (a) Lose
May 3 Chelsea (h) Lose
May 11 Manchester City (a) Draw
Verdict Going down with 34 points
I hope to god they are wrong!!!!!

Comment #2i’m fairly confident we will get at least a draw at Birmigham and West Ham and beat Sunderland and Reading at home, and that will hopefully be enough.

Comment #4Graeme, that is a load of complete and utter pessamistic bullshit i have ever seen. Do not belive it mate. That was written by some cockney bastard who would LOVE to see a MASSIVE club like us get relegated. The prick who predicted those results should be strung up and shot with shit, the prick. So should the Sun reporters, bastards.
WE WILL BEAT READING, TOTENHAM, THE FILTH, WEST HAM AND PORTSMOUTH.
Whoever says otherwise wants a good hard slap across their face!!!!

Comment #5I cant believe you look at those fixtures and see all those losses. Granted we need a win or even a draw to get the ball rolling a little bit, but considering how we played against bBurn there is no reason why we cant get something from Birmingham, ot tottenham who were crap on sat.
Reading and sunderland should both be wins, and again if we play like we did against BB then we will and a point at west ham is doable. So iv counted 12 points which i believe takes us to 40.

But if we lose that one, we are in even deeper shit. The heads will go down and it becomes a monumental uphill struggle from then on in.
I am praying for a win against Birmingham, but we cant afford to lose either. Can the players take the extra pressure? Can Keegan take the extra pressure??????

Comment #10Ronaldeano, I was there throughout Keegans last spell at NUFC and loved it as much as anyone.
I have also witnessed his frailties and listened to what he has to say. He cant deal with pressure and has proved it twice at least – when the going gets tough, so does KK.
Funily enough, I just dont see him walking out on the toon this time, dont ask me why though.

Comment #11Now the morons, ill-educated, ill-read chums who backed Keegan for manager have now got what they wanted!!!
Keegan for newcastle is like passing off poison to a child as sweets!! The man is a crap manager and a joke. If he cant even get the players we currently have to win against in 7 matches then he needs to be sent back to his circus. Make no mistake about it, the players NOW at Newcastle should be beating teams like Blackburn and Middlesbrough easily!
IDIOTS!!!

Comment #12Graeme, i have no doubt in my mind that KK will stay and finish the job he started all them years ago. It was FFS who messed things up when he left last time for reasons only KK knows about. We will stay in the league and KK will build HIS team in the summer and we will once again enjoy the brilliant attacking football we all crave to watch.

It may be difficult for some fans, but we have to hold our nerve. KK is not a miracle worker and is certainly not responsible for the current predicament.
I feel that the matches against Birmingham, Fulham, Reading and Sunderland are the key. 37-38 points should be more than enough this year.
I like your site by the way, but some of the contributors could respect other opinions and use more refined language!

Comment #16ronaldeano, I just hope you aren’t a driving instructor as your poor eyesight and ability to bury your head in the sand is second to none.
As for why Keegan left us the first time, everybody, except you it seems, knows why he left. He even wrote it in a book for all to see.
No doubt I’ll be a mackem twat too, even though I didn’t just start supporting us when Keegan was here last time, unlike the glory hunter, no nothing about football idiot you are. I bet you thought the loss at the weekend was a good result because we played ok. No doubt you are one of the rent-a-mob that are always on Sky Sports saying it’s ok if we lose 5-3 as long as we play good football.

For God’s sakes why cant you wish for the best for your team???? Is it crime? or are you so far deluged in self pity and low self esteem that you instinctly hope for lowest of the lowest for your team?? Keegan is shite and will always be shite. Look at his results, and the whole world was prdedicting disaster when he was appointed manager excepted for morons like you!

Comment #25Have to agree with you there Black Ceasar. Some of the fans, specially here on this site act like idiotic sentimental clowns who know nothing about MODERN footy, and I’m afraid that the guy who runs things in this club, falls into same category, never mind the idiot owning the club and listening these wankers. There is no place for soft feelings in top football these days and sure is a shame to see that some of these wankers are gonna get a real lesson about that fact once we go down.

Comment #29I don’t like KK tactics but i really can’t blame him cause of the choise of the players we have.
But i have a really really strong feeling that he’s gonna make us top 5 material next season.
The only thing what i don’t like about him is that he’s pushing for English players a lot.
Expand your horizonts KK,you can find much better, younger, cheaper players outside England.
Why would you need players like Bridge,Shorey,Wes Brown, etc when you can sign someone who is more technically gifted than them.
Renato Augusto,Kerlon,Miguel Velloso,Bruno Alves,Cristian Zapata,Felipe(Udineze)Zabaleta etc.All these players will have high transfer fees but they wont be on a high salary like Viduka,Smith,Barton.

Comment #31Rich, i just cant stand the fake, phoney conmen like Black Ceasar and Micheal who constantly slag us and the manager off instead of getting behind the team and showing true support like REAL fans should do. Fair enough, we all have a whinge when we are poor, but we all have to stick together and give the lads some credit when they play well like they did against Blackburn.

Comment #37Black Caesar fans like us are the reason we are where we are ?
Yes spot on fans like us who went to matches through the Bald eagle& ardiles days the people who pay inflated ticket prices, refreshments at the stadium, replica shirt prices,Club shop prices, buy fanzines, members on NUFC world on the website yes spot on mate we have made this club what it is
A premiership club with an amazing stadium and training ground and enabled the club to buy Venison, lee, beardsley, cole, ferdinand, Tino, Ginola,Batty, Shaka, Shearer, Bellamy, Solano, Robert,Dyer, Speed, Given,Woodgate, Owen, Martins, Duff, Beye, Faye, Enrique, Milner, Emre, Parker and Jenas
And an youth system to produce Clark, Howey, Elliott, Watson, Thompson, Taylor, Edgar and Forster

Comment #40Ronaldeano or whatever you call yourself, it is because of fans like you that NUFC is where it is now – supported and thank goodness for that!
KK nearly won NUFC the PREMIER LEAGUE in his first season in it. That nearly lesson would be invaluable this time around for KK to keep NUFC up and eventually complete his unfinished business.
Going by Saturday’s game, NUFC play is indeed getting better, though not yet the result. Taking the positive, this will come soon. True NUFC supporters do just that – support NUFC irregardless.
