We Need All 3 Points At Liverpool – Smith

Alan Smith talked to the Newcastle Evening Chronicle about his horrific injury he picked up at Liverpool two years ago when playing for Manchester United.

Alan Smith – had similar injury to Eduardo 2 years ago

Smith said today:

“It was two years ago since I did it, and it’s my first time back to Liverpool.” “I’ve been playing all over this season, and the main concern for me was how my leg would react, but I’ve not felt it, or pulled out of a challenge because of it. It’s never worried me.”

“I had exactly the same injury as Eduardo. I spoke to him to let him know I’m feeling for his career, and hoping that he gets on the road to recovery and gets back playing.”

“All the medical staff helped me, and everyone was brilliant.”

Alan talked about the upcoming game at Liverpool on Saturday, and he’s quite adamant that Newcastle will go for all 3 points against 4th placed Liverpool, who thrashed West Ham 4-0 last night at Anfield.

Alan continued:

“When you looked around the dressing room after the Blackburn game we knew we had put in a good performance.”
“We need three points Saturday – and nothing else.” “That’s the only thing you do whenever you cross the white line.”

“We were embarrassed against Manchester United, as we didn’t deserve to get beat 5-1.

“Now we’ve got to make sure we concentrate on staying up, building for next season and having a good go in our remaining fixtures.”

We’ll see in the Liverpool game if last week was just a flash in the pan or whether Kevin has indeed got the lads playing his attacking style of football. We really cannot afford to anything less than go all out and try to win every one of our remaining 10 league games.

That’s still 30 points to play for, and if he can finally get the lads playing like they did last Saturday, we should be safe way before the end of the season. And that will be a huge relief to Newcastle fans – it certainly will be to us.   😀

Then we can all look forward to – and enjoy – the transfer news on which senior players will be arriving in the summer.

Comments always welcome.

Would be good if Smith was “rested” tbh ! lol Not gonna happen though, Oba’s back and Carroll knocking on the door so Smith should be dropped!

Typical Smith – all fairy wind. He’s part of the reason we are where we are. Bloody cheek. He just cannot score. Trouble is he may get a goal on Saturday and end up being a bloody hero. Doubt it really. He will just fill a space and no more.

He is a player that epitomises king kev. Works hard in training, forget about what he does on match day, what he does on the training ground is important. Kev seems to think we get points on the training ground. Fraggle

If Smith does not play, we might have a chance.

But KK will put Smith in midfield at the position of Barton; mark my words. I hope I’m wrong but I fear I might be right 🙁 .

He seems to do a lot of talking to the press for the team, when was he appointed as spokesman?

Perhaps he could be moved upstairs as assistant to DW might be more productive than he is at present.

The way Liverpool is playing right now, the odds are definitely not in NUFC favour. But you never know. Football being what it is, anything is possible.

Anyway NUFC is overdue for some change in luck. It has been that long. Who knows, Smith might just score. Yes, it has been that long overdue.

    Michael you are a wanker

Who else at KKs previous teams have been picked on anything other than form or ability :

    Newcastle:
Venison, O’Brien, Clark, Kelly, Lee, Beardsley, Cole, Sellars, Barton, Batty, Hislop, Howey, Albert, Ferdinand, Ginola, Asprilla, Beresford, Shearer, Gillespie

    Fulham:
Bracewell, Taylor, Davis, Morgan, Coleman, Beardsley, Peschisolido, Brevett, Finnan, Hayles, Symons, Melville, Trollope

Man City: Anelka, Schmeichel, Foe, Goater, Howey, Huckerby, Pearce, Berkovic, Benarbia, Bosvelt, Tarnat, Dunne, Wright-Phillips, Barton, Sibierski

England: Seaman, Neville, Campbell, Adams, Pearce, Keown, Southgate, Beckham, Scholes, Ince, McManaman, Martyn, Wise, Gerrard, Shearer, Owen, Cole, Sheringham

There is a reason that KK has picked who he has:

Smith: Martins and Viduka injured Carroll is a young lad

Barton: Emre is injured LuaLua is a young lad

Butt: Our only natural DM, faye needed at CB

N’Zogbia at LB: Enrique was injured, Tozer and Kadar are young lads

One thing we all have to face is that we are stuck with this squad until the summer! We need to hope we can reach that magical 40 point figure and avoid relegation. So lets all get behind the team and try and do our bit. Then bring on the big summer clear out !!!!! Haway the lads !!!

its true Smudge has to stop talking and perform then we can really have a reason to listen to the bloke. I can’t wait till we start winning again because all u Keegan haters will shut ur traps and jump on the banwagon! i have no doubt in my mind that we will turn this around, maybe not against liverpool but when was the last time we won at anfield? KK is still out best option as manger and we all have to back him!!!!!! so stop whining!

Staffsmag is right. We have to invoke the Gorshkov Principle (one time Russian Admiral) which was that if the balloon goes up one can only go with what one’s got available. That applies to our situation. So we must have Carroll on the bench. KK will not pick this squad but we can hope: Given/Beye/Faye/Taylor/Enrique/Milner/Geremi/NZogbia/Duff/Owen/Martins. As I said before Butt, Smith, Carr, and some others can go off to the Strawberry and wait!

I think it will be 34-36 as if you look at the teams around us none of them have as many winnable games as us especially the 3 home games against Fulham, Reading and Sunderland and if we do anything like last saturday away at Brum and West ham well beat those pair away comfortably. We wont go down and then after this season can we start to be as the club name suggests “United”

stop the pointless digs at the manager, Coaching staff, Players except Smith, Carr, Barton and Viduka who deserve it and talk constructively about KKs new signings and Wises young player recruitment and any other news about the club.

PS Jimmy Milner in next England Squad
GET IN the boy oozes class, ability, effort, pride and modesty.

    LOVE THE BOY TO BITS

Since Ameobi was not playing Alan Smith has literally taken his role as club spokeman. He meant us would playing well & try to win it. Good but now show us if you could kick the ball towards theirs’ post & cross the white line to actually start to score some goals.
