As we mentioned two defeats ago, Mike Ashley and Chris Mort need to have a plan on what happens at the club and with our squad, if we do get relegated this season.
Mike Ashley – could have huge problem on his hands
That’s becoming a real possibility and even though we all hope it doesn’t happen they will need to understand who they can and want to keep and who they will let go.
Usually players like Michael Owen and the like will be sold simply because there’s no way we can afford the massive wage bill. But what we had suggested is that Ashley may be able to keep the squad together but that may not be realistic.
There’s no doubt that if we go get relegated is will be one of the most disastrous season in the club’s history. We were never in danger of relegation until we went on this terrible 12 game run in the league in which we have picked up just 3 points with 3 draws and 9 defeats.
But with every hopeless defeat it’s becoming more of a reality and this squad could be the best squad ever relegated. Best in skill but maybe the worst as far as heart, guts and effort goes.
We even have two players in Emre and Viduka who could really do a job for us right now, but both have been missing for weeks with what have been officially classified as slight injuries.
What’s going on with these two?
In truth we don’t see enough pride in a lot of our players, who seem to be getting used to being losers. That’s the real sad part of this story and this season could mark a dark chapter in Newcastle’s fabulous history. Maybe Kevin should play the recordings of the 3 FA Cup finals in the 1950s so this lot know what this club is all about.
This team should never be relegated based on the skill we have in the squad, not to mention the huge wages we are paying them, because they are supposed to be good players – that’s why we are paying them huge wages – but they are simply not producing.
We’d be happier to see young lads like David Edgar given a chance. When they’ve played they’ve given 100% in effort and determination for the club. That’s because they love the club – just like the Newcastle fans.
But when we sign new players – either to bolster our squad for another PL season – or to bring those in we can afford and who can get us instant promotion from the Championship – let’s make doubly sure they have heart and are willing to give their all for the club.
That’s just not true with all the players we currently have, and even if we stay in the PL – we should unload them in the summer.
Skill with no heart has got us where we are – in big big trouble.

Comment #1We picked up 1 point out of 6 against Derby…….
Derby are the pushovers of the premiership and we you can only pick up 1 point out of 6 against them you got ask y???
We are poor and i agree we got no heart or guts and there lettting down them loyal fans week in week out…………..
Excuses are over……………
If we get relagated the likes of Owen be saying oh i got to go got to be playing premiership football……
If any player says that if we go down they should be ashamed because they aint worthy to be playing premiership football……..
They let down newcastle united football club….
and even if we stay up i be delighted but it will only hide the cracks on another shambles of a season….

Comment #6No doubt the usual litany of “drop Smith and Butt” will be trotted out in here tonight. Well like many others I watched the beam back in Shearers Bar and as far as “heart, guts and effort” go they could not be faulted.

Comment #7Yes but as far as “skill”, “talent” and “acceptable performances” go they consistently seem to be lacking.

Comment #9never mind this lack of effort shit .. no they havent been giving enough effort but the main problem is just the quality of our squad our squad isnt good enough they are all players with big reputations who arent as good as everyone thinks and who are now bottling it just cos we are losing games.
they should take a look at themselves then put themselves in the position of us as fans who still support and pay huge amounts of money to watch them play home and especially away and they should feel completely ashamed of themselves that they keep letting our great fans down
do any of these players we have atm really have the bottle to go out take the game by the scruff of the neck and grind us out a couple of wins that get us safe? its worrying to say the least..

Was another tough game but we still have 9 (?) games left, some winable even.
Some poor performances today and I am gutted but we still have every chance to get some good results.
It is up to the squad now and they will show us in what’s left of the season whether or not they have the guts to save us from relegation.
Butt did ok for alot of the game today and made some good passes, Smith however is a headless chicken and how on earth did he manage a £6 million price tag.

What happens with the money? How much do we lose?
I hope we don’t go down, but in similar fashion to England not qualifying for Euros, it might be a blessing in disguise. Get rid of the players not producing and almost start again. Ever since we sacked Robson (Why?) it’s been down hill. We have Birmingham away, Fulham Home, Reading Home. We must beat Fulham and Reading. We lose those, we are down.

Comment #15why cant ashley just pay the wage bill for if we get relegated just keep the players get promoted again then clear them all out.
although i do think we wont be relegated, we all just need one win and i think we can go from there and survive. fingers crossed… and everything else.
