It wasn’t supposed to be like this when the season started last August when most Newcastle fans were confident of a top 6 finish after we had brought in 9 new players to augment our squad.
Mike Ashley and fans – what happened – we have actually scored a goal
Note: This photo was not taken yesterday
But something has gone drastically wrong this season and the decision to fire Sam Allardyce seems to have backfired as the team has had to get used to a completely new way of playing, half way through the season.
It”s akin to trying to change the engine of a jet while the plane is still flying – not easy.
It turns out that Mike Ashley was targeted by angry Newcastle fans yesterday, during Liverpool’s 3-0 annihilation of the Magpies which would have been a lot worse had Liverpool not settled for a 3-0 win ahead of their crucial Inter Milan game on Tuesday night.
They were streets ahead of Newcastle in everything they did, and while captain Michael Owen didn’t get any service up front, he looked a pale shadow of the once rampant goal scoring striker of the past.
Once the 3rd goal went in after 51 minutes, (Rafa at half time – let’s get a quick 3rd goal and we’ll call it a game at 3-0 and Jose and Steven will be rested), some fans threw accusations at the owner of not coming up with the money to buy decent players.
This has become one of the most disastrous Newcastle seasons on record, and that’s saying something.
If we get relegated it will go down as one of the best squad probably every to taste relegation, although we may still be deluding ourselves here.
That says something about the characters of the players we have doesn’t it?
If we go down let’s clear the boards of these players who are just in it for the money – there’s quite a few of them as we all know.
Then we can bring in players who actually want to fight for the club – what a concept.

Comment #124I was going to start arguing against Michael’s comments but the rest of you (who seem to have actually attended any games at all) have done admirably so I need not bother!
Does anyone remember how Keegan managed to get the side galvanized to avoid relegation first time round after Ardiles (despite playing nice football) couldn’t get a result? I’m sure he’ll do the same again. We should have stuffed Blackburn last week and did really well v Liverpool until the freak goal occurred.
We as fans can argue amongst ourselves and stubbornly claim that each of us is right until we’re blue in the face. What we need to do is simply get behind the team and spur them on. We are in a battle and need every man involved – complaining whingers can simply bow out now.

We’ve taken 3 from 36. That must be the worst run in the club’s history. Are you not a little worried that the wheel has come off completley or do you think things will suddenly turn around?

Comment #129We are by far the easiest team to beat and that could take us down Craigg what makes you think we will get 1 shot on target away from home never mind 1 point at this moment in time Derby are a better team than us and are showing a lot more commitment even though they knew they were going down a long time ago.

Comment #130Is it really possible that Smith has it written into his contract that he has to play every game ?? It sounds un believable, but why else is he in the team ????

Comment #132Toonhitman- Even if he could not afford to go to the match and watches it how can you take the piss out of someone if they could not afford to go to the match that is why the atmosphere now is so shit at the matches at st James cos the proper fan’s cannot afford to go to match and puffs like you go that can afford it people like you that would rather leave early to get your pies and a pint you sad little toss pot.

Comment #137Y’know, if an outsider read this thread they’d laugh all the way through it. It’s an embarrassment. No wonder we get so much stick, we can’t even club together as a unit any more.

Comment #138its not a time for us to be blaming anyone everyone. does not matter who did what, who’s fault it is whatever, we have to get behind them, back them to the hilt, then it is up to everyone at the club to deal with the mess we are in at the moment and pull us away from it. Then once we are clear of it, it can be looked into and see where it all went wrong. Our season (if you like) starts next monday night against birmingham. 3 points is a must. If we do not get anything from that game, then its going to look bad for us.

Comment #139I wish Keegan does well, but I am not going to lick his rear and claim to see positive things that are clearly not there. If Keegan can keep us up, hopefully he steps down and makes way for someone with more tactical adeptness to offer us cutting edge football and most importantly points. No one wants see 11 players charging toward oppsition goals nonchalantly.
I may be a maverick but I am completely Newcastle united throughin and throughout. I have identified our weak link (Keegan aka (tactical baffoon)) and people just do not like it.
Several candidates can fit this bill.

Comment #140Lets get a few facts straight. KK inherited a squad without confidence, and without a midfield of any creative ability. A 19% crossing success rate speaks volumes. Yes we have set our stall out with wingers who have been poor this season. This coupled with the fact that during KK’s reign we have played Arsenal twice, Man Utd, Liverpool and Blackburn. He wasn’t my or the majority’s choice but give the guy a chance. The performance against Blackburn was promising. Were we really going to accomplish something at Anfield that Inter Milan couldn’t manage. For gods sake. I’ve supported NUFC for 44yrs and been a regulat home and away in this country and Europe since 1968. The problem is that the majority of the fu*kers on this site arrived with KK first time around and have never watched real shit before. You’ve had it good beleieve me you have!!! Just support this club, the players manager and owner, because they are the only ones who can drag us out of this shit tip we are in.

Comment #141i think in the middle of january was the worst time to bring in kk. he didnt know anything about the squad. get rid of zog, its so obvious he doesnt want to play for us when we are in a bad streak, we need players that will fight for the shirt

Comment #142I totally agree London Mag – too many lose perspective on here! I’ve been going since 1975 and hardly missed since. It was another world in the late 70s!!!
