I'd play Edgar, Carroll and Lua even as a bit role just to see their passion. KK says to them "I dont want to drop you in the deep end". I remember a 19 year old Edgar getting dropped in the deep end against Man Utd in his home debut, did he crumble or bottle it? Man of the match and a 25 yard goal. His thanks, back in the reserves to this day !!

Ed ive a feeling that Souness joined liverpool when Bob paisley was the manager because i know Keegan and Souness never played in the same team and KK was there when they won the first European cup under paisley after Shankly had retired.

I would like to see him alongside Martins, but if he doesnt look as if he is putting the effort in then I do not know what to think, does he always look as if he is a little lazy in the reserves??

People going on about Carroll not doing the business @ Preston, you do have a point, but yet he’s also done the business against teams like Celtic and Juventus pre-season

carroll didnt do well as he was sent off for 3 games and was banned from driving and his loan was like 2 months and the manager refused to play him cause of this driving ban...

Totally agree with Mr T on his opinion about the first teamers getting in on reputation and not form. It's goals that win matches and Oba and Carroll look like they're able to score. I'd still not rule Owen out the running for goals but he needs a supply. Carroll is strong in the air and Oba can get past people and create chances out of nowhere. They are exactly what we need right now. Let's see the young and exciting talents given a chance! Kaz Lua Lua, maybe even Baheng. ANYTHING to change our current form.

How are we going to know how good he is, if we never play the guy? What's the point in having him, if we're not going to give him a run? Drop Smithy and Owen, Play Carroll and Martins (If smith has something in his contract, put Smith in for Butt - least there will be one less pudding in the team!)

Edgar should be given a chance for my money as well. Our first team need a kickup the backside, we're getting like England where the first teamers are just always automatic choices, and feel no pressure to perform due to no threat! Keegan needs to shake them up, give Edgar and Carrol starts, but Lua Lua in the mix as well, play Emre if he's fit as well??!?

Either way, there needs to be a change Kev, please. I love my Toon army, but I can't face the prospect of being a league below the smoggs and the unwashed!!

I also do not understand peoples thinking that Carroll will score in the first team, he was no good out on loan and hasnt shown anything in the first team, not even a willingness to prove he is worth a place by trying hard, I would look at where he is being supplied from in the reserves and give these players a try in the first team, if Carroll cant score away from the reserves then the supply cannot be as good, so what would Martins and Owen be able to do if they had the same quality passes??
Maybe we should broaden our thinking here?

Come on KK. The reserves have shown you what we have all been saying. Give Carroll and Edgar a chance, not to mention Baheng and Lua Lua. The evidence abounds - recognise it KK. No good saying there is talent over the border when you cannot see over the fence of NUFC's own backyard!

OK lets not get carried away about Baheng. Yes I was one to criticise him at first, yes he has done well scoring twice in two games...

But the standard of the Premier League is a cut above the likes of Whitley Bay and Blackburn Rovers reserves.

Sorry to steal your thunder. But hey, he could still turn out to be good. Here's hoping :)

I don't think there is a clause that states he must play, however, I suspect he has photos of MA.

It has been discussed too much already, but Martins of course needs to start in front of Smith. Is there a clause or as someone mentioned, the owner having a say? Martins, wasn't he the best player last year for us?

KK will play Smith anywhere, as long as hes on the field, maybe blame the owners as Smith is his favourite player after all. The owner interfering too much is my guess.

But i'd love to see Martins and Carroll upfront vs Birmingham although at the moment i can only dream about it :(
